Fall Storm with Skies on Fire

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

Sunsets in spring and fall here generally have one thing in common.... the skies exhibit impressive palettes of color, and at times, it can seem that the very horizon is on fire.

In this picture, it almost seems like the tree is breathing fire!

Wisps of bright fiery colors sift through the leaves of the shadowed pine trees.

Extravagant colors shimmering in the wet crisp air, after the storm blew through.

It seemed the very clouds were firebrands as they lazily drifted in the horizon, as the silent silhouettes of the pines quietly watched.

As the evening shadows darkened, the colors in the sky deepened, their beauty radiating, mounting, and billowing out their loveliness.

Fall storms never cease to provide such splendor with their capacity for light and dark contrasts.

The brightness of the blue sky contrasted with the darkness of the shadowed landscape.

And as the shadows continued to gently overcome the light... the misty air rolled up to greet the darkness.

  1. Such loveliness! It looks like our Father took out His paintbrush and painted a masterpiece...He does this every evening, because no two sunsets ever look exactly alike. It is amazing. No wonder the Bible says His ways are past finding out! Thank you for capturing His paintings and sharing them here with us! Sending you big hugs, sweet friend. :)

  2. So awesome ( in the true meaning of the word ) are the beauties of creation. The sky provides an ever-changing kaleidoscope of natural art, often taking my breath away with the beauty.

Idaho is not so far from our future home near your borders and the view of the sky and the clouds from our place there is very similar, but ever-changing. I can, and sometimes do, spend much time just gazing at the sky there and contemplating God's majesty. Beautiful pictures.

    1. Indeed, you said it quite eloquently my friend! Ever changing, never the same, and always breathtaking in its beauty! If you are not far away from the border of Idaho, who knows, maybe someday we can meet and share the beauty of a sunset together, and just - as you said - contemplate God's majesty - a lovely thought! Thank you for visit today, so happy to have met you :)

  4. There's nothing quite like a fall sunset is there? We go to the beach often to watch the sky, which is often ablaze with color. Thank you for the mountain view!

    1. Oh, I would be at the beach with you watching the sunsets... my heart beats with the rhythm of the waves, I grew up on an island, and while the mountains are dear and near to my heart, there is something about the ocean that grabs my heart with its beauty too! So very thankful to hear your good report today on the blog, and you will continue to be in my prayers dear friend!

  9. Pretty skies. When we lived in Colorado I marveled at the cloud formations in the fall mornings, and how sometimes they were like white cotton candy dipped in pink and orange dye. Amazing how God paints the heavens. Hugs, Nancy

    1. God is THE artist of all, isn't He! I think that incredible beauty can be found wherever we are, we just have to look for it. I have often thought that the clouds look like cotton candy too! So frothy, soft and colorful, almost like you could stick your finger in them and lick to your heart's content, lol! Yes, our God is an amazing God! Appreciate your visit and hope you are enjoying your weekend :)
