A Little Home This-n-That

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

Today I had to rearrange a small space in our home.  Why is it when you just do one "little" thing... it turns into a rather large endeavor?  You move one thing into another space, and then you have to find room for the things you just changed, and then that thing has to be moved, and so on it goes.

I had a lamp in a rather awkward spot, and decided it could be better put to use in the hallway, but then that meant other things had to be rearranged...

Happily, the lamp found a new home in our hallway ...

... it works in this small space, amazingly enough.  This little cabinet is just opposite the washing machine and dryer (all open), and next to the restroom, and so sometimes it would be nice to have a little extra light in this area.

This is a mini-book that I made some years ago, and oh, the nostalgic memories found in it!  It was a fun little project that holds pictures of our family from several years ago.

A little candleholder that was hand painted by myself.

A container filled with other fun little books that I've made through the years.

Another little mini-album created several years ago as well.  Anyone familiar with Stampin Up!? You may remember seeing some of these cute albums sold by them through the years.  I was a demo for Stampin Up! for many years, and still dabble in stamps, paper and such when I have the creative inspiration.

Some more fun creations on display.

Just a quick photo shoot of some of the lovelies I have that were made in years gone by.  It was fun to do a bit of rearranging and finding a new way to display them.

Do you have projects from years gone by that you just can't bear to part with?  Looking at all the little mini-albums as I cleaned and rearranged brought back some wonderful memories.  I still have such a stash of handmade cards from so many years of stamping and creating that I haven't had to make any cards in a while, although I have to say my birthday selection is getting rather limited... that is the one I pull from the most.  :)

Today, I felt some of the old inspiration returning.  Perhaps I will get back to creating with paper, stamps and my sewing machine again soon!

But for today... I was content to see my little hallway space all cozied up.  :)

    1. Yes, I hope I can get inspired to create again... since moving into our new house, I am still working on getting my creative space in order, and perhaps when I do, the creative "juices" will flow again :)

  2. What fun re-arranging and decorating is. It was fun to see some of your creations. The little books look so fun. We have been thinking of book making lately - my daughter was actually working on one this afternoon. I just had a new nephew born and his dad mentioned wanting books in Spanish and English for him and I had thought it could be fun to make some. We shall see.

    1. Making little books is a lot of fun, and they make wonderful little gifts too. It has been a long while since I have done anything like that, and so maybe I have inspired myself to do this again. You could do an alphabet book for your nephew, those are really fun to do! Have a blessed day :)

  3. Oh yes, yes, Marilyn! I know just what you mean...my mother usually re-arranges various rooms in the house a couple times a month {{sigh}}...oh my! She moves one thing and a de-clutter starts...:-)
I loved seeing some of the lovely things in your home - you've created some gorgeous things with paper! I love Stampin Up! Goodies!
    Have a wonderfully blessed Thursday!
    Love to you!

    1. LOL... I'm glad it is not only me that happens to, oh my! I try not to do it too often, but there are times when something is just not working, and then it takes time to move everything else around to get it all comfy again.

Yes, I am a paper crafter at heart, although I have painted, sewed, embroidered, and cross-stitched among other crafts through the years. I always enjoy your sharing of your cards, because that is a craft I enjoy so much. Since we have moved, my craft space has just not felt "right", and hence I've not had any creative juices flowing. I hope that changes soon :)

Hope you have a wonderful day today! How is your garden growing? I'm sure you must be enjoying some lovely things from it by now :) Hugs to you too, dear friend!

  4. I really like paper crafts and have a few stamps but haven't made a card in quite a while with them. I think most of my ink pads are dried up :( Hand made cards and these cute little books can become special keepsakes, can't they? Yours are quite adorable and maybe I have gotten a little inspiration to try my hand at a card or two. Have a lovely Thursday!

  5. Hi MM! Your lamp looks just perfect on your table. I enjoyed the tour of some of your crafts! I really liked the painting you did on that glass jar. It's really pretty, I like the colors you used.
My daughter was really into scrapbooking a few years back, and I made a few of those. I made one for my parents, logging some of their vacations, and they just loved them. It takes a lot longer to do than I ever expected, and I'm sure those photo albums did too. What joyful keepsakes! Totally worth the effort.
    Happy Thursday!

    1. Oh thank you Ceil, it was fun to show some of the different projects that I've created through the years. I really enjoyed painting, but scrapbooking was something I really enjoyed doing for years, but now that digital is on the scene, I don't do the hands-on as much. I need to though.. pictures still pile up, lol! It is a lot of work making these books, but they continue to bring joy through the years for sure :) Appreciate your visit today, and your kind comments, always a joy!

And speaking of lovely, it's a joy to visit you this afternoon. I woke this morning with a terrible migraine, but praise the Lord it has subsided and there is only a dull ache now :) God is so good!

    1. Thank you for your sweet words! Indeed, our home is quite cozy, as we downsized tremendously this past summer, and living simple has taken on a whole new meaning for us, but it has been such a wonderful thing!

Photo books are certainly a special way to preserve memories, and I enjoyed making them. It's time for me to make more... I just need to get my crafting space in order, and perhaps then I will. :)

Chrissy, I am so happy to get to know you better, and appreciate your visits here so very much. Praying you get to feeling better as well! Take care, and may the Lord bless you richly :)

  11. Oh, so pretty! I love all of the beautiful things you have created. One of my dearest friends was into the stamping, and she enjoyed that for a long time. Your paintings are just lovely! God has gifted you with so many talents, but none greater than the dear encouragement you are to me and so many others! May He bless you abundantly for sharing your heart and beautiful home with us here. :)

    1. Stamping is a wonderful craft, I enjoy it so much! I haven't painted very much, but do enjoy it as well. I've collected a lot of dust in my craft area, and I hope to change that soon, lol! It just takes a while to get everything in an orderly place, but I am making progress :) Thank you for your sweet words, it gives me great joy to encourage others! I pray you are having a blessed and wonderful day my friend! :)
