GOD WILL PROTECT YOU

I am convinced more than ever before about the incredible blessings that blogging has brought into my life!

I received a precious card in the mail on Saturday just as I had received word of a freak accident that had taken place with my husband.

I am about to share a story that may seem quite strange to some people, but I want the Lord to be glorified in what took place in our lives on Saturday.

Saturday started out a beautiful day here, and as I awoke the sun was shining in beautiful brilliance. But as I went about my morning business, I increasingly felt a heaviness in my heart that I could not shake. It became heavier and more intense.  I always have my quiet time with coffee first thing in the morning.  As I read the Word and prayed I felt an even more quickening in my heart that something was wrong, very very wrong, and I could not understand what it was.  I began to play the piano, as I often do in my morning devotions, and sing to the Lord and worship Him.  Even as I played the piano, I began to weep, for the heaviness in my soul could not be shaken with the music.  I got up from the piano, and began to walk through our home praying and calling on the name of Jesus to show me what was wrong, and what was causing this burden in my soul.  I have walked with the Lord long enough to know that these things cannot be ignored.

I was impressed that I needed to call in a prayer warrior to pray with me.  She and I began to pray together, calling on the name of Jesus to help us in this time of distress.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower
and the righteous runneth into it and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10

After praying, the load lifted and I felt encouragement from the Lord come into my heart, and I knew all was well, whatever it was that had come to my heart, had been lifted in prayer.

I called my husband to share with him what had just taken place in my heart, and soon it became very apparent that the Lord had called me to a place of prayer to PROTECT my husband.

He had been on some property we own in Texas cleaning up brush.  He had lit a small brush pile and was standing back away from the fire tending it.  He said there was no wind or any unusual weather conditions when he lit the fire.  He said he turned to walk away from the pile when a flame leaped out from the fire and burnt him!  If he had not turned at the right moment, the fire would have burnt his face and chest area.  Instead, he was burnt on his left arm and right shoulder and back.  The fire burnt his shirt.

When I called my husband, he had just been burnt, and we both knew without a doubt that he had been protected from a more serious burn to his face and chest and hands as he was moved just out of the range of the flame as it leaped from the fire.

It was agony for me to be 2000+ miles away from him during this time, as he went to the hospital to have the burn treated.  I called in prayer warriors from all over to pray with me that the Lord would heal the burn quickly.  As he entered the emergency triage area, they ushered him in immediately to a room, and told him he would most likely be transferred to a local burn center as the burn looked so bad.  I texted and called as many prayer warriors as I could.  Soon, the surgeon who had been called on the case came in to look at him, and shook her head and said that she didn't know what the fuss was about, the burn was going to heal just fine, and he did not need transferred to a burn center! They placed antibiotic cream on the wound, wrapped it up, and discharged him with some medication for the pain.  She said she didn't know why they thought he needed to go a burn center, as it was already in the early stages of healing, and she was amazed that the burn was not as serious as she was led to believe. We believe that the Lord touched the burn in those moments when prayer warriors were called in, and want to give Him glory for touching that burn so that more serious treatment efforts were not needed!

And you know what... remember the card I mentioned earlier?  Dear Cheryl, who blogs at Homespun Devotions had sent the card in the mail to me earlier in the week.  She told me that she had been at the store trying to decide which little card to send and felt quite impressed to send that one.  I opened her card just moments after finding out that my husband had been burned.  Coincidence?  No, a thousand times no!  Our great Lord cares about the very details of our lives!

Does God work in mysterious ways?  Oh yes He does, but His timing is always perfect, and in such a way so that you know without a doubt, our lives are safe in HIS care!

You see, one week before this whole incident took place, Cheryl bought this card to send to me, and it was sent and received in the very moment when I needed to hear that comforting word from the Lord!  The timing of the Lord is impeccable!

Walking with the Lord is a joy that I would never trade for anything in this world.  His care and love for us exceed and pass any human understanding we have.  I know without a doubt that what was perhaps intended for evil against us, that the Lord intervened and protected my husband from a horrible face burn that could have been so much worse!  I praise the Lord today to report that my husband just left the burn clinic, and the doctors again expressed amazement at the quick healing of his burn, and the fact that he should have been burnt far worse than he was.

GOD WILL PROTECT YOU.
God will command His angels to guard you.
Psalms 91:11

I feel very encouraged in the Lord today, and want to encourage you too, dear reader!  If there is a situation in your life about which you feel discouraged, and hopeless.... the Lord indeed can be trusted and depended on!  He cares about the minute details of our lives so much that He will impress one of His children to send a card in the mail to arrive at the precise moment when needed to encourage and uplift!

I give all honor and glory today to the Lord who is our protector, and He can be trusted in the storms of our life, no matter what they are!  He is faithful!

Another dear blogger, Stephanie from Enchanting Rose  had emailed me during this time and I shared with her the situation that had taken place with my husband, and she shared this verse with me:

When thou passest through the waters,
I will be with thee; and through the rivers,
they shall not overflow thee:
when thou walkest through the fire,
thou shalt not be burned;
neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Isaiah 43:2

Dear friends who are reading this, I want you to know that this world of blogging has opened up an incredible opportunity for the Lord to minister and encourage our hearts.  I give praise that an unlikely avenue such as blogging has ministered to my heart this weekend.  There is much joy in my heart that a situation which could have been so much worse, was one that instead, I can rejoice in and give thanks to the Lord for his care and protection over us!  He is worthy to be praised in all things!

May the Lord bless your day today in a beautiful way!  :)

  1. How amazing our dear father is. He is so wonderful to give us intuition to pray, friends who have intuition to share a word, and pray with us. This is the Body of Christ in action. Praise the Lord. I love to hear these testimonies. I don't like your hubby was hurt but so thankful he was spared from worse.

And yes, what a blessing it is to pray with other like minded hearts in times such as this. Walking with the Lord is certainly an adventure... but that's okay I am up for the adventure as long as He is in it with me! Have a blessed day Linda! :)

  8. Sweet friend, I got chills as I read this. Our God does indeed work in mysterious ways and what's even more amazing to me is that you answered the call to be diligent in prayer. You had no idea what would take place yet you called out to the Lord and He answered. I am so thankful that your husband was not injured any more than he was and to think he could have been burned on the face....only God, sweet friend...only God.

Your testimony is a reminder to me that when God presses my heart about something {whether it be something I know about or have no clue as to why I'm burdened} that I must take action and call upon His name. He knows all things and we are called to be obedient unto Him.

Thinking of you and keeping you and your husband in my prayers. Much love and sweet hugs to you!

    1. I am so very thankful that the call to prayer was not ignored or interrupted, and that we were able to intercede in this situation! Many times we pray never knowing the outcome, but this was one of those situations where there was instant feedback as to the mighty handiwork of the Lord, and for that I am so grateful! Appreciate your dear heart for the Lord, and pray that He will bless your heart for Him in all you do! Much love to you today and hugs returned! :)

  9. Dear, precious friend! Oh, my heart just rejoices WITH yours! To see the providential hand of our loving GOD in action just leaves me with an incredible sense of peace. It is SO important that we mind the "checks" of the precious Holy Spirit...when we feel Him nudging us to go to earnest prayer, to slip a card in the mail, or to do something that we may not even know why we are doing it. This is such an amazing testimony to God's grace, and how I praise Him for rebuking the devourer for your dear husband and for lifting up that standard against him when the cruel enemy came in like a flood. I am just abundantly blessed by reading this precious post...praise our wonderful Lord and Savior for His faithfulness to us all! I love and appreciate you very much and thank you ever so much for your dear, kind words spoken here today!!

    1. It is important that we are obedient to the burden of prayer when it comes. Many times we never see the results so quickly as happened to me, but it serves as a reminder to me as well, that there is so much POWER in prayer and that we serve a purpose when we are obedient in prayer when the Lord calls us to it. This was a very poignant and amazing lesson for me as well, that there is a purpose and power in prayer! I am so thankful that the Lord was faithful to protect my husband from something that could have been much worse, and we are giving praise to the Lord daily for this!!!! His burn is healing up quickly, and he is back to work! How great is our GOD!!!!! Appreciate you so much dear Cheryl, and your prayers for us, how blessed we are to be able to pray one for another! May the Lord bless your dear heart today in all you do!

  10. What a beautiful testimony about God's love and protection! First of all, I am so happy that your husband was not burned badly...even after they thought he had been...truly a miracle! I have no doubt that the card you received from Cheryl was sent at the precise moment. And that peace that passes all understanding? Well, there is just nothing to compare. I am right there with you on this blogging thing...never in my wildest dreams could I ever have imagined the relationships and encouragement that has come from ladies all over the world...with one thing in common...our faith in God. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us!

    1. Oh yes, it is an incredible testimony! Our children have seen first hand the protection of the hand of the Lord, as well as all who hear! To God be the glory! When I opened that card from Cheryl, my children were there and tears just ran down my face... because GOD never ever ceases to amaze me with his precise timing! ONLY GOD! I give HIM all praise for this situation, and feel quite blessed to have seen His handiwork in action!!!!!! May this testimony serve to encourage all who are downcast that our LORD JESUS really does care about every little detail of our lives!! Have a blessed day my friend!

  11. Because of your relationship with our Lord, He can speak to your heart at the very moment prayer is needed. He knows your obedient spirit will humbly go into prayer...without even knowing the situation. Talk about a "prayer warrior"!! What a testimony to the medical staff at the hospital of the power of God!! They were left scratching their heads in amazement over the situation, I'm sure.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. Blogging is becoming a "faith-builder" for many, because of testimonies like this.
    Praise God!!

    1. This whole situation has been amazing from beginning to end... and I'm reminded of the scripture in Genesis 50 where Joseph's brothers were scared after Jacob's death that Joseph was going to harm them, and Joseph said "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good" and I am encouraged. Whatever fiery darts the enemy may intend against us, God is still greater, and we are safe in His protection! And indeed, the burn clinic on Monday expressed amazement at the fact that my husband was not more severely injured, because almost exclusively those kinds of burns from brush piles are most severe. To God be the glory! We can count on Him for His protection in whatever situations of life we find ourselves! And the blessing of blogging has certainly opened up a whole new avenue for the blessings of the Lord to flow. Thank you Lord!

Have a blessed day dear Debbie, praying your faith is increased today in Him!!! Much love and hugs to you dear friend!

  20. WOW what a truly amazing story!!! I definitely believe that God protected your husband through that ordeal and healed him so it wasn't as serious a burn. THE POWER OF PRAYER. It's interesting to be able to go back to your Dad's lessons about sitting quietly and apply it to your life now. Otherwise, you do get frantic inside.

I have gone through two experiences where I knew something was terribly wrong but didn't know what. I still remember how I felt. It's scary when it happens. Take care of yourself, Kelly.
