Fall visited us briefly this season, and for that I am grateful. Short-lived though it was, it was beautiful to see. We took several little road trips to discover and see more of Fall's offerings.
I can't even believe that we are already nearing the end of November and Thanksgiving is coming up quickly. As the days continue to shorten, the year winds to a close, and my garden has been put to sleep for the long winter months, I hope to have more time to blog, visit my dear friend's blogs and share some creativity happening in my craft room soon. Winter is a quiet time, a time of rest from garden activities and to plan for the upcoming holidays.
May the sweet blessings of the Lord be with all of you who have followed along today and shared in Fall's marvelous bounty with me, and I pray a sweet Thanksgiving blessing for all of you :)
There were still waters capturing reflections brilliantly full of captivating beauty. |
Dirt roads ablaze in Fall's emboldened colors of orange and yellow. |
Rivers splashing merrily downstream singing Fall's delightful tune. |
Tree trunks nestled with happy piles of crisped leaves in a myriad of color. |
Inviting pathway along the riverfront edge. |
A color-saturated view of one of our local city parks. |
Fallen leaves stunning in their final moments of splendor. |
And there were rushing waters gathering color from the skies as they rushed downward, while the golden shrubbery along the banks of the river waved in glee. |
Walking across the suspension bridge was quite exciting as the water splashed beneath our feet. |
Trails along the river were bright with Fall's endearing color palette. |
This delightful cabin caught my eye... transformed now into a restroom, its appeal still alive. |
Snow gathered on the banks of this river. |
The worn roots of this tree hold fast in spite of the many storms it has weathered. |
Then we took a weekend trip down into the panhandle of Idaho where the town of Lewiston was ablaze in Fall's warm embrace. |
A cozy picnic spot along the Snake River. |
The mountains around Lewiston awakening to the riotous red whisper of the sun's rays. |
An old drawbridge, still in use, sits outlined against the sun's embrace. |
Our cozy accommodations in Lewiston at the Inn America. |
Walking through the city park, these industrious souls kept a wary eye upon us. |
The duck with buttered golden tones really seemed to smile as I captured her in a moment of time. |
Traveling through the countryside of the panhandle, we visited the little communities along the Clearwater River. |
Although the day was at times overcast and cloudy, still enough sunshine brightened the landscape with its changing fall ensemble. |
Fall foliage along the Clearwater River. |
Beauty abounded around every corner and bend of the road. |
We enjoyed driving through the little towns we passed through and seeing their version of love for their little community. |
Magnificent views in every direction along the Clearwater River. |
How brilliant, and lovely are the colors Fall showcases! |
The Northwest Passage Scenic Byway Highway 12 in Idaho. |
I captured this scenic view of the little white church from across the river. As we crossed the river and passed by the church there were people gathering outside the church on a Saturday afternoon, delightful to see. |
A pastoral scene captured along the Clearwater River. |
As we began to climb through the countryside, at a roadside overlook area, this view was breathtaking to see. |
As we left the river valley behind, and climbed into the mountains, the terrain ahead began to change. |
We crossed over White Bird Pass, and stopped to visit the little town of White Bird. |
Quite an overpass that overshadows this little town! |
Barren hillsides now, with fewer trees and brilliant shrubbery. |
It is amazing how subtly the landscape begins to change until you begin to wonder... where are the trees! |
The barren hillsides are parted by the brisk frisky waters of the Salmon River. |
More views of the terrain along the Salmon River. |
Returning home, we traveled back through Lewiston, and captured views of the area from Lewiston Hill overlooking where the Snake River and the Clearwater River meet. |
We stopped in Moscow to view the McConnell House, a Victorian-Gothic mansion built in 1886. |
The house was not open for us to view it, but we enjoyed walking around and looking at it. |
It was a good thing we enjoyed Fall that last weekend of October, since Winter showed up the very next day! |
The third snow we've had this Fall, it was beautiful to see. |
A classic picture showcasing the mixing of our seasons here. |
Rain or shine, snow, fog, hail, or blistering cold, our walks go on! The dogs and I walk in all kinds of weather, and enjoy whatever the Lord serves up for us! |
Since the ground was frozen and snow had fallen, we decided to light up our massive slash pile from our logging earlier this summer. It burnt quickly, and was amazing to watch it. The heat of this fire reminded me of Shadrach, Meschach and Abendigo being thrown into the fire made seven times hotter. These flames were so hot, we had to stand at least 20-30 feet away from it in the initial stages. Now it has simmered down and will continue to smolder for some time to come. |
And now that November is here in full swing, and really just about over, the glorious sunsets come with spectacular colors in November. |
May the sweet blessings of the Lord be with all of you who have followed along today and shared in Fall's marvelous bounty with me, and I pray a sweet Thanksgiving blessing for all of you :)
Ephesians 1:15-19
Wherefore I also, after
I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus,
and love unto all the saints
cease not to give thanks for you,
making mention of you in my prayers;
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory,
may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of him:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
that ye may know what is the
hope of your
calling,
and what the riches of
the glory of his inheritance in the saints
and what is
the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty power.
