Feathered friends that is :)
They're quite hungry... eating all the time!
Handsome in their flitter-flattering ways...
I enjoy their company... lots of happy chatter...
I need an interpreter to understand their language {smile}
Happy sweet cheerful little things they are...
A thoughtful moment? Or a watchful eye?
Shall we have a chat?
Or is this all really just about food... I think so... but I enjoyed your company anyway!
While I was trying to interpret bird language... these two were jealous of my affections, and a game of tug-o-war was in full swing...
Roger is always the instigator to this kind of show... and Annie the reluctant participator. Do I really have to? ... uh... okay...
And they're off and running... Annie with her firm grip on the tied end. Poor Roger didn't have a chance....
Annie's heart is just not in this monkey business... and Roger just doesn't understand why. He has the energy to run to the moon and back, I think!
So I played tug-o-war with him for a while, while Annie plopped in the snow and watched.
My furry and feathered friends were quite entertaining... we enjoy all the winter visitors that we have here, and with this new bird feeder that my husband got me for Christmas, it has really added space for a lot more birds to visit.
Only one comes to the feeder at a time, but I have counted at least 10 of them in the trees nearby at one time, waiting for their turn. I love the sweet "chickadee-dee-dee" sound the chickadees make. It seems we have two different species of chickadees - the mountain chickadee has the white stripe on its head, and then black-capped chickadee.
I want to get a picture of the woodpeckers who often visit, but the lighting is often not good when they come, which is early morning or late evening.
I hope you enjoyed the visit with our feathered friends... what a delightful happy bunch they are. :)

Oh, how sweet are our birdy friends! Dear Marilyn, your photographs of your adorable feathered friends are amazing! So beautifully crisp...I love it when the birds gather nearby and feast on the deliciousness provided by us! Hee! We have a Knysna Loerie in our neighbourhood, and my! The red flash of his wings is sometimes seen and oh! It makes us so happy!
ReplyDeleteMay you have a truly blessed Wednesday!
Hugs!
What joy to see a beautiful bird like the Knysna Loerie! Thank you for your kind words about the pictures, I'll admit it was rather difficult to get a good picture with the two rowdy dogs playing next to me, lol! Hope you are having a blessed and lovely day!
DeleteMy pup gets jealous even when I"m on the phone, lol. they look like they enjoyed themselves while you found pictures to take. Keep trying you will get the woodpecker. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteYes, they are demanding creatures at times, aren't they, lol! Yes, I am keeping an eye out for the woodpecker, but it does seem that he comes at dark to eat. Perhaps he is nocturnal? I don't know. Appreciate your visit today! :)
DeleteOh sweet! Please send some of your feathered friends to the east coast, ok? The woods and fields are pretty quiet these days ...
ReplyDeleteOhh, that's sad to hear! I wonder why they are not there? Chickadees usually are the birds that are out and about during the winter here. And woodpeckers, lol. I hope you all stay safe this weekend with the storm barreling your way! Appreciate your visit today :)
DeleteGreat photos!!! I love hearing about your sweet dogs too. Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I followed you by GFC. I look forward to many visits here!
ReplyDeleteAh thanks, you are so sweet, and I'm glad you like my rambling enough to come back for a visit! I will be visiting you often as well!
DeleteYes, our dogs bring so much joy into our lives, and laughter! :)
Two of my favorite creatures! Dogs and birds! Maybe some day I'll get a bird feeder set up where I can see it.
ReplyDeleteFun pictures!
If you have a large tree in your yard, that is where birds will come to feed. I've noticed they like to have a place to "hide out" after they grab something to eat. Good luck with your bird feeders, what a delight they truly are! :)
DeleteI love chickadees! They have such sweet faces! Your puppies are so delightful!
ReplyDeleteI love chickadees too! Did you see him looking at me? I think he loved me back... hehehee! And yes, I dearly love our sweet pups. What a blessing and ton of joy they bring to our home! :)

DeleteGreat pictures! Animals of all kinds are a blessing...love the simple things in life.
ReplyDeleteI love the simple things in life too, and stopping to enjoy them makes life worth living! Simple is really best! Appreciate your visit! :)
DeleteWhat fabulous photos you got of your little birdies - and your sweet furbabies! I love feeding the birds and my little furbabies like watching the squirrels from the front window - they go nuts!!
ReplyDeleteOh our dogs would go crazy if the squirrels dared visit the bird feeder! The squirrels don't come around because of our dogs, lol. So, the only squirrels/chipmunks I get to enjoy are when we walk through the woods, and they are very entertaining too! Appreciate your visit, and hope you stay cozy and warm if the storm is passing by you this weekend! :)
DeleteThe birds are such a precious gift to us from the Lord. How I love watching them :) When I was younger I used to sit outside with bird seed in my hand and the lovely little birds would land on my hand to enjoy some food. Wonderful photos, my friend.
ReplyDeleteAnd your dogs are just too cute! I got a good laugh over their antics. Love and hugs to you, my friend!
Oh what a blessing it would be to have them come eat out of your hand! I would need to lock my doggies in the house, because they would chase off any birds that might try to do that! I've heard that chickadees will do that. I want to try that someday, my dad also told me that my grandpa had birds that would eat out of his hand too.
DeleteYes, those dogs have a way of keeping a smile on your face through the day.
Hope you are feeling better, my friend! Appreciate your visit very much, and praying the blessings of the Lord for you :)
I could spend all day gazing at our birds as they feed outside the window. We used to have the spotted Woodpeckers visiting when we lived in France, but haven't seen any here.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed such a delight to watch! I have the feeder outside my window, so it is enjoyable to watch them throughout the day :) Appreciate your visit! Have a wonderful day :)

Thank you, they do bring so much joy don't they! :)
DeleteThat's it! I must get some bird feeders so we have visitors like your chickadees. They're so pretty and I imagine their twitter is delightful. xo ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteThey love the sunflower seeds. They waste all the other bird seed, and the turkeys eat that, lol! Do you have wild turkeys there? The turkeys love our bird feeder because of all the seeds the chickadees drop, lol! :)
DeleteP.S. Love the bird feeder. Nice gift. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy husband knows me well :) It was a wonderful gift, that keeps on giving! :)
