This post is a random one of sorts... happy things... busy things... lovely things... yummy things... funny things...

A huge brush pile burnt!

Brewing up some kombucha

Making homemade vanilla

Listening to encouraging music on Sirius radio

Starting my day out the best way there is! IN HIS WORD!

Making more kombucha!

Beautiful flowers in front of our local bank

Lovely colors of spring!

Gentle spring beauty

Is there any lovelier color than yellow?

Well...maybe purple?

Happy chickens

Egg collection for the day

Mamma Mia laid a double yolk egg... it is as big as a duck egg, lol!

Regular sized eggs in the background

Seeds I will be starting today!

Eggs in the carton... see the big one, lol!

Happy Feet!

Grinding up soaked and sprouted wheat berries into flour

Lovely fragrant sprouted flour!

A terrible picture, but funny still... all the chickens sunning on my front porch as the sun is beautiful today

Taken through my window... you can see the close proximity with Annie and the chickens!

Mr. Rudy holding Annie off at the pass... he is standing in front of the doggie door entrance, lol!

Finally Rudy gets the hint, and moves off his perch...

And the dogs are home safe, lol
Sorry about the blurry window pictures... but it was just too funny, I had to share it.  The sun was shining directly on the window, hence the glare.  Those of you who know that Annie was responsible for taking out our first rooster... so I am always a bit apprehensive when I see her too close to the chickens.  Thankfully, she was being the perfect lady here today :)

So that is a bit of my day in a nutshell... hope you are having a blessed, wonderful, yummy, productive, and fun Saturday!

PS... as I was writing this post, and about to hit send, my husband called and his dear mother had just fallen and he was waiting on the ambulance to get there.  She was in a lot of pain.  I just talked to him again, and she has been taken to the hospital, possibly with a broken hip.  If you wouldn't mind praying for this situation, I would greatly appreciate it!  It is amazing how just one phone call can change the order of your day!  Appreciate your prayers dear friends.  :)

PSS: I wanted to share an update on my mother-in-law for those of you who have been praying for her... she came through the surgery just fine today, and they plan on getting her up to put weight on her leg tomorrow!  Unfortunately, my father-in-law (who is in a nursing home) is quite upset about it all.  He has the early to middle stages of Alzheimer's, and wants to go stay in the hospital room with her, but cannot because of his health conditions.  So please pray for them, as this is a tough situation for both of them.  We are praying that she will have a quick recovery and be able to walk again soon!

  1. Oh so sad for his mom and I will pray for her bless her heart.
I can almost smell the pine needles near the fire. And I want to make kombucha. My goodness! You get lots of beautiful eggs. We are excited if we get 3 or 4...how many layers do you have? I also have a hen that lays super size eggs...her name is Mabel:)
Loved your post,,,,so fun to see what other bloggers are doing:)
    Blessings to you

    1. Thank you for your prayers! The break was in her leg, not her hip, and it broke while she was standing, and then she fell! She is in surgery right now, and we are praying all will be well.

Kombucha is quite easy to make, you just need a scoby from someone who has made it, or I think you can buy them too. We do get beautiful eggs from our hens, the Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns are very faithful layers. Mamma Mia is the one hen I have that we hatched from an egg, and I guess somedays she doesn't get around to laying an egg, and the next day lays a double yolk, that is how it seems to happen. I love the name of your Queen Mabel... I might "borrow" it for one of my new set of chicks that we are raising :)

Praying you have a blessed and wonderful Sunday!

    1. I am glad you enjoyed the chuckle... I had so much fun outside yesterday with the chickens. I was working in the garden, and they were working right along side me, as I was raking up debris, they were enjoying the soft dirt underneath. So fun :) Kombucha is fermented tea, and it is awesome in taste, and for your body! You do need a scoby to start with, and you might check with local health food stores about getting one. It is a great way to get extra probiotics in your body :) Hope you are having a wonderful day!

  4. Mamma Mia's egg seems a goose's egg, Bea's eggs have that dimension, I wonder her pain, poor darling ! ( Bea is my beloved goose ! )
I love this collection of photographs of yours, lovely Marilyn,
    enjoy your weekend, darling friend,
    sending much love to you

    1. Yes, I worry about Momma Mia and her having pain to deliver such a big egg! Poor thing! She is a Barred Rock chicken, and certainly this egg is double the size of a normal egg.

Thank you for your sweet words about my photos, you are always so sweet, and a visit from you is so enjoyable! Hoping you are having a blessed and lovely Palm Sunday :)

    1. Chickens are so much fun... and their personalities, oh my! I never realized that until we had chickens, that they are just like pets! That definitely was a huge egg, I feel so bad for her when that happens, as it has to hurt!

Appreciate your prayers for my husband's mother, she is in surgery right now, and we are praying all is well. Her leg broke while she was standing, and then she fell.

Hope you have a blessed and wonderful day :)

  6. This was certainly a fun and enjoyable post, dear Marilyn. You always have such beautiful photos. That is the one thing I dislike about blogging, the dreaded photos. :( The camera and I do not get along very well.
My that's a HUGE egg, mama mia must be quite proud.
Kombucha,I used to make that faithfully for years but had to stop drinking it.
I have that same whisper mill and just love it. I like spelt berries the best for bread, how about you?
    Your day was quite full.
My prayers will be with your mother in law. What a shame if she broke her hip.

My day was quite productive with shampooing the carpets, waxing the wood floors, ironing and then a lovely walk in the cool brisk air. We have had a lot of cold windy weather, and a good amount of snow.

    Bless you, dear friend~~

    1. Bless your heart dear Debbie, I can only imagine how difficult it is to blog with the trouble you have with your eyes and computer screens. I deeply appreciate and love every post of yours, after just visiting with you this morning, I was deeply touched by your post. You have a gift my friend, and as you can, I appreciate when you can share!

Yes, Mamma Mia sometimes doesn't get around to laying an egg during the day and apparently she then has a double-yolked egg the next day. It indeed is one huge egg!

Kombucha is something I have just started making as well as kefir. It is nice to get the extra probiotics into my body this way. I do love the Wonder Mill, and grinding my own flour add so much more flavor to the bread, I think. I have been using Prairie Gold wheat berries from Wheat Montana to make my bread, but I will have to look for spelt berries now that you mention it!

My MIL is doing much better, came through the surgery just fine, and they hope to have her up and putting weight on the leg today. It was not her hip that was broken, and for that we are thankful!

Sounds like you had a very busy productive day indeed! My favorite thing to do after a busy day is take a walk too! I don't mind the weather any more, I just get out and walk, and enjoy whatever the Lord has chosen to bring us, and it is always a joyful time with the Lord as I walk. Bless you today dear Debbie... may the Lord bless all you do!

  7. I love your chickens and that is quite the egg!!! Those flowers are beautiful, so nice to see them blooming. I can't wait until they're blooming here. The weather was beautiful here but we're now back into the cooler temperatures again, we had a bit of snow yesterday. I will say a prayer for your husband's mother, how terrible for her. It's always so scary when a fall occurs.

    1. Thank you for praying for my MIL, she seems to be doing better, it was her leg that broke, and we are glad it wasn't her hip.

We have had some beautiful weather here, but some rain and snow flurries are in the forecast this week, it will be good to have the moisture though.

I can't wait to have flowers blooming here either! I have started some flowers from seed, and will see how that goes :) Have a blessed day Kelly!

    1. Hi Carla, thank you for your prayers, they are so appreciated. She is doing much better, had surgery yesterday. Her leg broke, and not her hip and hopefully a quicker recovery. They will be having her put weight on the leg today, amazing!

To make kombucha, you need a scoby... it is an awful looking thing, but it really does a pretty amazing thing. Kombucha is basically fermented tea, and is not hard to make at all. I will try to do a more in-depth post on it soon!

Hope you are having a wonderful day :)

How are you, dear one? It looks like you are busy in your darling little home and my, what lovely flowers! How exciting to have them blooming. The forecast is calling for 60-degree weather tomorrow, but then snow and rain the remainder of the week.

I am so sorry to hear about your precious mother-in-law. Please know that she will indeed be in my prayers. Thinking of you and sending love and hugs your way!

  17. So sorry to hear about your mother-in-law! Bless her dear heart. I miss getting your posts in our inbox! I still cannot resolve the issues, and our ISP tech support can find no reason that I am no longer able to receive any blogger blog subscriptions. I am late getting here, but thankful your mother-in-law came through her surgery. I do trust her recovery will go well, with no complications. Thank you for sharing about your busy day with us. :) Sending you much love across the miles!
