Early morning sunrises with waves of brilliant color spreading across the sky.
So lovely to drink our coffee in the morning, and gaze at the splendor of the skies.
The cool air meeting the warm ground while the skies were warming up created layers of color around us.
Ethereal fog rising through the bright orange of the skies and warm shades of the earth.
Fall just doesn't last long enough! Trees bright with color are quickly losing their leaves.
Foggy fall mornings... when the world is still and silent.
Cool crisp fall days are perfect for little hiking excursions. What a joyful thing it is to get out and explore the forest when every breath you breathe is cool and fresh.
Each leaf contributing to the beauty around it.
We took an old logging road way back up into the mountains only to find the road to this lake was closed for the season. So we continued on the road past the lake quite a bit higher until we came to this overlook.
Bright colors abounded around us in rich deep shades.
We continued on the logging road until it led us back down out of the mountains, and to where these graceful trees stood watch over the sprawling valley.
We just stopped and soaked up the depth and vibrancy of the colors before us.
A truly idyllic scene of contentment.
Anne's famous quote "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" would be perfect for this picture... except I took this picture in September, lol!
We stopped to visit at a little creek that flows through the mountains, and stopped to enjoy its quiet babbling.
Later in the week took us into town where we had some errands to run. It was a beautiful day where the temps had reached up into the 80s. We stopped by the city park and just sat on the park benches overlooking the river, and soaked up the sunshine around us.
The trees were bright with color, although the leaves were gently falling, the swish-swish of their movement filled the air.
Golden hues against the bright skies....
Fall .... Why can't you last longer???
Fall is meant to be enjoyed NOW. You can't wait for a better day... you must just get out and go when fall comes! These lovely trees probably have lost most of their leaves by now. I'm glad we took the time to stop and enjoy their beauty.
I actually managed to get this picture without other people in it. That was not an easy feat. There were many, many people out enjoying the park the day we were there.
We found a little bench to sit on by this tree, and just gazed out on the river and the beauty around us.
"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree." Emily Bronte
"Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn." Elizabeth Lawrence
We watched this lazy sailboat make its way to shore.
We followed the gaze of this pensive sea gull who seemed to be enjoying the quiet moments just as we were.
But soon enough, our errands had to be completed and it was time to leave... because we were picking up supplies to continue working on this project....
We have been making sure but steady progress on our tractor shed. We are not carpenters by any stretch of the imagination, but just trying to make the best of our limited building skills, and supply of wood.
Our son has been helping dear husband when he can. However, he was in class, and my husband needed help. So... I climbed the ladder to help.
I don't like ladders. I don't like heights.
But... sometimes you just have to do what you don't like to do. So I carried and held boards while my husband screwed them in.
And was I ever glad when dear son got home earlier than expected!
They finished putting up the 2x4s. I loved the symmetrical look of it all. Is it perfect? Nope. But it is a project that when finished will make a huge difference for us. The tractor will have a safe covered place to be stored for the winter, plus we will have lots of extra storage for things that need to be stored under a roof as well. And we will have saved thousands of dollars by building it ourselves.
With all the projects that need to be done, even still we have realized it is important to stop and enjoy fall moments, as they are sweet and don't last long. Fall is the one season of the year that you just have to stop and enjoy it while it is here, because it doesn't stick around long... about as long as it takes a leaf to fall from the tree it seems! Just as the leaves explode with color and shower their brilliance as they fall... the joy of fall arrives quickly, dazzles with its beauty, and slips away in the blink of an eye.
I hope you are enjoying the season of fall where you are... it is meant to be enjoyed... stop what you are doing, and soak its beauty up. You'll need every golden drop of its joy once the season of winter comes upon us :)
Oh the colors! I know I keep saying it, but you live in THE most beautiful place. Lucky gal.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need to pinch myself. I am far more than lucky, I am rich and blessed beyond measure! Hugs to you dear Kim, I always enjoy your visits :)
DeleteHi Marilyn! I am just a wee bit jealous of all your leaves. It's still slow in coming here. It's just been too warm to get a good crop of color. Your sunset photos are really pretty too. It's a show that happens every day, and you said, making ourselves available to enjoy fall and all of nature is so important. Too easy to get wound up in the 'to-do' list.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall!
Ceil
I agree, it is so easy to have an abounding to-do list (around here especially in fall as we have to get ready for winter), but my husband and I know when to put aside the to-do list, and just enjoy the bounty of the Lord's rich beauty to enjoy around us. And then I think the chores and to-do list seem to get done just as needed. I hope you get a color show to enjoy :) Hugs to you today dear friend!
DeleteHello Marilyn! Autumn is just starting here in the mountains of PA, and boy it is just beautiful to see it unfold :0) your area is just bursting with color :D mari
ReplyDeleteOh how exciting! I do so love the bursts of color, and will look forward to your pictures of it. Hugs to you today dear friend! :)
DeleteWow! You really are in the throes of autumn, aren't you? Here in North Alabama, things are still quite green, though we've finally seen some cooler temps (we were 100+ just last week)! Your landscape photos are gorgeous - you are a very lucky lady! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Denise! So happy to have a visit from you! I can believe you about the warm temperatures! Fall does seem to take longer getting to the southern states, but I hope you do get to enjoy some cooler weather and fall bursts of color soon! Appreciate your visit so much, and so happy to meet you! Hugs to you :)
DeleteHello Friend, I bet having your coffee in the early mornings with seeing the sun blaze the fog and darkness away. Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the heights and being on a ladder!
I added you right back onto my sidebar, I enjoy you and your outlook on life and your faith in the good Lord Jesus...
Love, Roxy
Thank you Roxy, always such a blessing to have you visit! Hugs to you today :)
DeleteThese photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the fog one. It makes me feel held. :)
Thank you Sandi, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures, the fog always speaks to my heart too :) Hugs to you today!
DeleteWhat fantastic colors you've shared. A song came to mind-How Great Is Our God. I am so thankful for this wonderful season-thanks so much for blessing my evening.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
Oh that is a wonderful old song, and my heart just sings out too when I see the beauty around us. Appreciate your visit, and hope you are having a lovely day!
DeleteSimply beautiful! All those colors are just another reminder of the love of Jesus!
ReplyDeleteI don't do heights or ladders either, so proud of you for doing what you needed to do.
Leaves are starting to change here and the temps are getting down into the 30's this week. Brrr!
Enjoy your week dear friend!
Hugs, Amy
It is so true, whenever I see such beauty, my heart swells in praise to the Lord. No, ladders and I don't really get along, we have a rather shaky friendship, lol! Hope you are enjoying the leaves changing and cooler weather! Blessings and hugs to you :)
DeleteYour fall weather is quite a bit ahead. How beautiful it is and how wonderful that you are enjoying it. Probably the most important thing about using a ladder is to take the time to make sure it is secure and not going to slip before you go up. I don't enjoy ladders either but sometimes using them is a part of life. I do try to remember to take my skirt off and wear pants too.
ReplyDeleteReally, I'm surprised that our weather is so far ahead of ours, I'm wondering if it is the coastal effect that you have. It has been fall here a good two months now. Yes, whenever I am using a ladder I don't wear anything that could hinder my climb... ladders and I have such a shaky friendship, I try to stay away from them, lol! I was telling my husband about you building your cabin as we worked on the shed. I know that I will never be as brave as you were to do that. Hugs to you dear friend!
DeleteHow wonderful it is to stroll through your awe-inspiring photos of your glorious Fall. Photo after photo takes my breath away of the loveliness, you call home! Oh my, you are brave climbing up to the top of your tractor shed. Those non-carpenters are doing a splendid job; how clever they are. May you have a lovely week, Marilyn, soaking in all that beauty that surrounds you.
ReplyDeleteYour comments always bless me Kim, thank you so much for your uplifting words... we certainly are not carpenters, just trying to save money, lol! And I never cease to be amazed at the lovely beauty around us, it makes my heart sing most every day! Hugs to you dear friend, praying the Lord is blessing and keeping you :)
DeleteWow! Thank you for the stunning photos! You are a brave girl climbing so high! God be with you today, Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pom Pom... ladders and I have a shaky friendship at best, and I am always glad to be off, lol! Appreciate your visit, and hope you are having a lovely blessed day :)
DeleteAren't you lucky to live in such a stunning place.

I am blessed... but then you are too, always enjoy seeing the pictures you share :) Hugs to you today!
DeleteOh, those evening skies, the autumn mists, the changing colors, the cool breezes flowing. I just love autumn! Thanks for capturing it with your lens, friend ...
ReplyDeleteThe blessing is mine to be able to share with you, and it makes me happy that you enjoyed them :) Hugs to you today dear friend!
DeleteHi Marilyn, You have captured beautiful photos of fall scenes all around you. What a blessing to see God's beauty like this. Truly a gift to enjoy. Great cover building for your tractor and tools. That protection really helps when winter sets in. Enjoy Fall and Happy October. Thanks for visiting my fall tour and your sweet comment. Always so nice to see sweet friend. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet words, it is always a joy to have you visit me, and I'm so thankful the pictures blessed you... my heart sings with joy at the beauty we enjoy here, and I love to share it with others. Blessings and hugs to you today!
DeleteThe fall colours are gorgeous there Marilyn! Your machine shed is looking good. It's great to be able to do the work yourself. We are having gorgeous weather this week - sunny and quite warm - and the fall leaves are looking spectacular. Have a blessed rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the beautiful colors you are getting to witness, fall is truly a magnificent season. Appreciate your visit as always, hugs to you today!
DeleteOh my, the lovely colors. Autumn is just showing off her beauty here in Wisconsin. I am excited to get our for a few hikes in the crunch of the fallen leaves.
ReplyDeleteI am happy your shed is coming along well.
A big thank you for showing us where you live, it is so beautiful. I am just a bit jealous. After hiking in the Black Hills of South Dakota, my husband got his itch back to move West.
xx oo
Carla
Oh dear Carla, I know how it is to get the "itch", lol...but you do live in such a beautiful place yourself! I enjoy hearing about your fall hikes and experiences on Friday. I'm so glad that your family had such a lovely time in the mountains, there is something about mountains that "calls" to you, oh yes. Have a blessed weekend my friend :)
DeleteMarilyn....what absolutely gorgeous photos! I am in awe of the place where you live! We should start getting some color soon now that the temps have gone down a bit. That is gonna be one cool tractor shed!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debby, I always appreciate the beautiful pictures you take too! I will look forward to the fall show through your lens too :) Hugs to you today dear friend!
DeleteOh, how glorious! Fall is my favorite season of all...though they all have their own special beauty and significance in our lives. I still prefer fall above all! We are enjoying it here, though it is not truly quite all the way upon us yet. We have had our windows open wide the past two days, with no a/c. Hooray!!! It is coming...and we couldn't welcome it more. Your photos are just breathtaking, as always, and, as always, I leave here with my spirit refreshed. So thankful for you, dear friend. God bless you over and over again!
ReplyDeleteOh isn't it wonderful to be able to experience fall, and not having to use the a/c! We stopped using our a/c about 2 months ago, hard to believe it has been that long, oh my! I'm so thankful the pictures are a blessing to you, you are always such a dear blessing to me when you visit. Appreciate you dear friend! Hugs and love sent your way :)
DeleteWhat breathtaking pictures (views)!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chrissy! Appreciate your visit, and so glad that you are feeling better! Hugs :)
DeleteHow soon will winter arrive in your part of the world? We have very little leave changing here..we will be in our peak by 3rd week of Oct. Beautiful photo's!!
ReplyDeleteWe usually get our first snow around Veteran's Day, or the second week of November. Not far away! However, we don't really get snow that stays on the ground until probably December. So yes, we are enjoying every moment of fall that we can, because winter is pushing at the door! Hugs to you today :)
DeleteDecided to comment on this post as it is ablaze with beauty! What gorgeous surroundings you love in, Marilyn! What makes it extra special for me is the water. Maybe, being a Pisces, it simply balances everything out for me. But it is a lovely complement to all the bright and fiery foliage, which undoubtedly, is the star of the season!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it for as long as it lasts!
Poppy
I agree, water does something to me too. There is something about water that draws me in, every time. We are enjoying it, very much, every possible leaf that blows in the wind, I look and enjoy. Winter is approaching too fast! Hugs to you today Poppy :)
DeleteI totally enjoyed looking at your beautiful fall photos. Thanks for the lovely visit to my blog. I hope you try out the kale pasta recipe. Enjoy the week.
ReplyDeleteJulie xo
Thanks Julie... I do hope to try the kale pasta with kale from my garden, probably this week :) Hugs to you, and thank you for the return visit!
