Mother's Day 2026

Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Our Mother's Day 2026 was wonderful in every way! We chose to forgo crowds of people at a restaurant and chose instead to enjoy God's glorious creation together. We brushed the dust off our kayaks and enjoyed a day on the lake. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! We have been blessed with beautiful 70-degree days here with abundant sunshine. It was the perfect day to enjoy the mountain lake that is just down the road from where we live.

The lake was so beautiful and serene with abundant sunshine.

The kids and Dan enjoyed kayaking while I stayed shoreside, taking care of the grandbabies.

We came back to the house afterwards for a meal together. We enjoyed hamburgers with all the fixings, and had such a good time visiting and laughing at the grand girls and their antics. Clara is eating solid food now, and she entertained us all!

Dan bought me this beautiful garden bed with flowers already planted from a local florist.
This is a gift I will enjoy for many years to come!

After all the excitement of our time together at the lake, Clara fell asleep and took a nice long nap with Gramma. I know these days are precious - and numbered! Danika is a toddler now, and naps with Gramma don't happen anymore! They grow up so fast!

Danika loves to wear other people's shoes. She found my shoes and wore them to the door, one of her signals that she is ready to go outside. She loves the outdoors!

This is a Bridal Wreath Spirea that I planted several years ago, but this year it has bloomed in magnificence!

I made sourdough last week. I have perfected my own recipe, which doesn't involve measuring or a lot of shaping and folding. I mix my dough up, place it in the refrigerator, and let it sit for a day or two. It rises this high in the refrigerator! Then, it's ready to put in the pans and bake.

We prefer sandwich-style bread, and I usually make up a big batch and then freeze the bread. They freeze/thaw beautifully!

Mother's Day Thoughts

Mother's Day can be such a difficult day for so many. My heart breaks for those who long to be a mother, or whose mother has passed on, or whose children have caused heartache in their lives.

In my opinion, whether you've birthed a child or not, women are mothers naturally - we love, nurture, and care for people the Lord puts in our lives.

So many dear women in my life have never naturally borne a child, but they have nurtured and cared for me, prayed for me, and blessed me.

So, for each of you dear women who read my blog, I want you to know that you are dear and precious to me! I am grateful for all the precious women who have poured themselves into my life, my mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, sisters in the Lord, friends, and neighbors.

I am blessed beyond measure for the gift of mothering given to me through so many.

I've shared this video in the past, but want to share it again. I am blessed by the prayers that have been prayed for me, and I want to pass on that blessing by praying for my children, family, and for each of you. Yes, I pray for each of you, dear readers who take time to visit my blog, comment, and share your lives. You are in my prayers always!

Much love to you all!
