Excited! ... oh yes we were!
My husband and I took a walk together right at dark while it was snowing last weekend. We took our flashlight and Annie with us. The snow was just beautiful as it softly came down. Silent Night... indeed!
The eaves of the chicken run had deep snow overhangs where you can see the amount of snow we had already gotten!
As we walked back up the driveway, Roger was waiting for us. Can you see him? He doesn't like to walk with us, as he is scared of a leash. He would rather patrol the yard instead, lol.
The next morning, the sun came out in its glorious splendor!
The sunshine was not about to last long though. The clouds were pushing in... and the colors of the sky changed dramatically in just minutes.
We went for an early morning drive along the river while the sun was still doing its best to break through the clouds.... but another storm was on the horizon!
More snow moving in!
The roads were nicely plowed and sanded... perfect for a drive in our 4x4 truck.
Overlooking the river....
The lake close to us had just begun to freeze over. It still wasn't safe to walk out on the ice yet.
The ice had formed on each of the branches in beautiful glistening patterns.
We hiked around the lake for a bit. Annie was glad to be with us exploring.
So many tracks... which one to follow?
Ummm... none of them Annie! You need to stay with us!
Huh? You want me to stay with you, when I have all this detective work to do?
Do your dogs talk back to you? LOL!
Every turn and bend offered special glimpses of pine trees adorned in their white attire.
I can see someone has their work cut out for them!
Don't guess we'll be doing any grilling today!
Dogs up to their knees in silly antics in the snow!
Would you like to have a seat in the white fluffy chair? LOL!
The next day we took a ride along the river again, in a different direction. Again, the sun and clouds were battling, as yet another storm was approaching!
Everything the snow had touched had turned to a special icy snow that glittered and glistened in the against the somewhat eerie colored sky.
Large maple trees bowing in their magnificence.
The sun flexed its muscles and spread wide the clouds to show off the blue skies beneath...
It was lovely to see the sunshine, even if just momentarily... because we knew another storm was approaching!
This morning as the third storm was lessening, I went outside, and walked knee deep in the snow.
There was hardly a difference in the color of the snow on the ground to the sky above. The only color to be seen was the darkness of the trees. It is almost as if I took a black and white picture! But this was in the middle of the afternoon...
The fence posts have snow toppers that look like glistening light globes...
I think it is time someone brushed the snow off the poor grill, but you can see just how much snow we've gotten in the last few days.
We are having a grand time with all the snow... especially after we were told by the weather forecasters earlier in the year that we were going to have a mild wet winter... ha! Don't guess we can trust those forecasters, lol!
It is still snowing outside! We are forecast to possibly get another 4-6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. Do you think we are going to have a white Christmas? (heehee!) I think so! :)
Oh how glorious to see it. I know we will get some later on but it is beautiful to see yours:-). Here in the mountains the temperature will reach 70 today:-( but it is safe to travel :D. Merry Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is really so pretty here! I can't stop looking outside, and just love walking outside in the snow. I hope you do get some snow in your mountains... 70 degrees huh! I pray you and your family have a blessed Christmas dear friend!
DeleteOh, wow! Such splendor and beauty! I guess you don't have to dream of a white Christmas, huh?? :) And, it has been so unseasonably warm where we live! My, I think they said it is to be in the 80's within the next few days! Whew! It is hard to imagine it could be Christmas with weather like this. But, we are, oh, so grateful to be alive and together for another precious Christmas! God is so good. It is always such a dear joy to see a post in our inbox from you, dear friend. Keep enjoying that wonderful snow, and I trust you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!! I love and appreciate you more than you know and thank God for allowing us to meet this year. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are getting more snow today, even as I write! We are enjoying every bit of it, and it has been such an amazing season. It is hard to imagine the heat of 80s right now, when it is in the 20s outside, lol! I do hope you are enjoying, and having a blessed time right now with the heat, and do thank the Lord so very much for your precious friendship this year... how blessed I am!!!! Much love to you dear friend, and may the Lord continue to bless and pour out of you His spirit in mighty ways!!!
DeleteOh, what a picture perfect place, my friend! I so love the snow and every year when my husband asks me what I want for Christmas I tell him I simply want a white Christmas {{smiles}} We are supposed to get snow tomorrow and I am truly hoping we do.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your glorious pictures with us - every snow covered tree is stunning. And may you have a most beautiful Christmas. Much love to you!
Oh, a white Christmas indeed... and we certainly got it this year! I hope you did too! We were so magnificently blessed with glorious beauty in the skies on Christmas Day, it was wonderful! DeleteYour area is so beautiful covered in snow! Amazing how pure and pristine it can be; our roads in our development aren't cleared-yours look wonderful. How fun to venture out, but at night-you are braver than I am. We got snow this week too and might get a little today. We went out walking yesterday and it felt so nice, Hi yet loves to roll around in it. Christmas blessings to you!

Oh it is truly a beautiful place, we are blessed! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, it has been a bit busy around here, but I hope to stop by and visit your blog space soon :)
DeleteBeautiful. So nice that you and hubby go out for walks in the snow with Annie. We have a lot of snow here, too, but the ice that has formed makes it very difficult to go for walks. After we get over these colds were going to buy some grippers to put over our boots. Then we'll enjoy out winter wonderland walks. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that walking sometimes can be treacherous if there is a layer of ice on the ground under the snow! Ice picks on your boots are a wonderful thing to have, and a lot safer for sure! Thanks for your visit Nancy, I hope to get by to visit you sometime today :)
DeleteEnjoyed all your beautiful pictures!!
ReplyDeleteWe are just now getting a cool front, Texas weather for sure!
I have enjoyed all the kids here for Christmas, and Abigail is Adorable❤️
Hope you and your family have many Blessings in the New Year!!!
Ohh! I am so happy for you, and I love the picture you have in your avatar! I know you are enjoying having your kids there for Christmas! Thank you for coming by for a visit, and sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it so much! Thank you for the sweet wishes, and I wish the same for you too! :)
