A Week in Photos

Some random photos taken throughout the past week or two... Enjoy :)

We had some fun on the snowmobile...

... trying to turn a corner in deep snow didn't go well for us... lol! After we laid in the snow and laughed a good while, we brushed ourselves off... got the snowmobile back on the trail... and stayed on the trail, instead of trying to make our own... {smiles}

Incredible beauty in the woods!

Another day ... we took a drive when the sun came out...

We stopped at a local boat ramp area along the lake open to the public and walked down to the water...

The sun was so bright, it hurt my eyes... and maybe my heart a bit too... it was so lovely!

Every tree is beautiful in white!

Our silhouettes shadowed against the backdrop of the glistening snow...

Every corner, nook and cranny of the world was gorgeous today...

Back at home... the icicles hanging off the roof

... snow wreaths hanging on the neighbor's fence..

How did the snow make such beautiful hanging wreaths?  A question for the scientists among us... for me, I just enjoyed the amazing wonder of them!

Have you tired yet of the snow-shine photos? I was soaking it all up, enjoying every second of it!

Still enjoying the sunshine, out for a drive on one of our favorite mountain trails... on this trail we were VERY glad we were in 4-wheel drive, and lamented a bit that we didn't have tire chains... but luckily we got back out without any problems! This trail is so remote that all who live on it do not have electricity.  The homes are all off-grid... this gives you an idea of the kind of trail we were on :)

I think this is one of my favorite pictures along this trail... I wondered if I could live out here on this beautiful trail without electricity and the typical comforts of life... I wondered... lol!

A lovely red barn set up against the backdrop of the mountains..

As we drove father north, we encountered this bank of angry looking clouds..

Gray skies now... while just a few miles back we were in the bright sunshine... amazing how the lake effect works!

Back home... a momma and her two little ones stopped by for a visit..

... and the poor turkeys were still making their way through the deep snow.

There you have it... about a week's worth of pictures for you!  It is raining, and warmer now here, with temperatures hovering around 30 to 32 degrees, and quite sadly, the snow is melting fast.  Sigh.  I was hoping it would hang around a bit longer than just a couple of weeks, but that is why we got out and enjoyed every day we could, because if there is one thing we've learned, you enjoy every beautiful day here to its fullest, and glean all the beauty you can out of it... because gray winter days are the norm.... which is what we are having now.  {smiles}

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

  3. Beautiful, beautiful photos. I love how the water casts a blue light on the white snow. Mm-mmm. We've gone from 10 degree highs a little over a week ago to high 20's. Still quite a bit of snow on the ground. We had a really sunny day here this past week. It was wonderful! xo ~ Nancy

    1. I LOVE that blue light too! It is incredible and so beautiful. Yes, we had the same cold temps here last week, and now they are back into the 30s, and everything, sadly, is melting! We've had mostly drippy rain all week... glad that you got to see the sun! Have a blessed day my friend :)

  6. At this moment it is -13 here in ND. Meteorologists said it would get down to -15 so I better go to bed and get myself under a few covers. Your photos are beautiful. Nature is indeed lovely in Idaho.

  8. Morning dear Marilyn! Oh, how I enjoyed seeing your crisp wintry pictures...all that snow makes me a little jealous! {{Smiles}}
    Snow is not something we get in South Africa...at least not in our part of the country!
    What an exquisitely beautiful part of the world you live in...it was ever so delightful to catch a glimpse of a week in your life!
    I send you ever so much love...always!

    1. Oh dear Kelly-Anne, it would be sad to live in a place without snow, I think, but I know you have many other beautiful things around you too.. that we don't have here - like elephants :) I think the Lord has placed beauty everywhere for us to enjoy, if only we will look! You are such a precious dear, and I appreciate your visits, and your presence in blogland... praying the Lord continues to bless you in your 19th year! :)

  9. Oh, my! These photos are just breathtaking! Those roads you travel just draw me in...like I am right there. Thank you so much for sharing this beauty with us! :) It is very chilly here, but nothing like what you are having. And, of course, we have no snow. I LOVE the new look of your blog...I meant to tell you that the other day when I stopped by! I have been experimenting with mine lately, too, thinking of changing its look....not entirely, but possibly somewhat. I just love yours, though...I love the pictures in the header, too. Sending you much love and many hugs, dear friend. :)

    1. I do wish we could travel down some of these roads together... what a joy it would be! I'm glad though, that you are able to share the joy through the eyes of my camera :) Thank you for noticing the change to my blog... I thought it needed a bit of a facelift, and it is ever so challenging to navigate the blog and make the changes I want. So thank you for noticing, that means a lot :) If you want to change your header, I can show you a fairly easy way to do it that I finally (think) I've mastered, lol!

      Blessings to you dear friend, have a sweet and precious day in the Lord!

    2. Oh, it does make me sad to hear that you need snow, and haven't gotten any! I do hope and pray you get some! We had such a sad winter here last year (snow melted in January!) and then such a terrible summer with fires, that we have all been praying for snow. We are so glad to have it and hope it doesn't melt! I appreciate your return visit, and look forward to getting to know you better! Have a blessed and wonderful day :)

    1. Oh yes, riding on that snowmobile was "snow" much fun! Falling off into the deep snow was a great laugh, and some great memories with my husband. Sadly, all our snow is melting... hope we do get some more soon!

      Appreciate your visit, and hope you have a blessed and marvelous day!

  13. Your pictures are magical! I love when the trees and pine needles are covered with snow. And I'm thinking that those turkeys feet must be freezing!

    1. Yes, I was certainly worried about the turkeys and the cold. They spent a lot of time huddled up in the trees roosting during those really cold days. It has warmed back up now into the 30s, and they all seem to be moving around happily again. :)

      Hope you and your hubby are having a blessed day today celebrating your anniversary :)

  14. Hello there! These are such glorious photos, I just love taking a tour of your week. You really do live in a beautiful area. :)
    My guys would love to go off grid, but I kinda like running water and an indoor bathroom! I thank Jesus often for the comforts of home and all the necessities that go with it.
    Enjoy your week and enjoy the snow while it lasts...
    We got snow and some very cold temps. I was happy to see the sun shining even though it was still rather cold out.
    Hugs, Amy

    1. Haha, you and I are in the same boat, friend! My husband mentions it quite often, as having an off-grid place for a weekend getaway ... lol! Who knows, we may one day do it, just to do it. But I do enjoy the sweet comforts of life, like hot running water and an indoor bathroom! Just seeing those outside johns made me shiver!

      Hope you are enjoying your snow and that it has warmed up just enough so you can get out and enjoy it :) Have a blessed and wonderful day, my dear friend!

    1. OH, I do, I do! It is so amazing to have the beautiful places to visit. There are still so many place and little roads that we want to visit, just in our general vicinity. It amazes me how much there is to see and do, and how it constantly changes with the seasons too. I'm glad that you are enjoying life in the country, it really is the best life! Appreciate your visit, and look forward to getting to know you better :)

  18. What gorgeous winter scenes! And snowmobiling!! I can't wait (I think) to get out on ours. We bought a snowmobile recently but it needs clutch repairs then it's good to go. And we need snow too but that will come tonight and more on the weekend. Certainly not like you have had there! The rain on Sunday night took down a good foot of snow and we didn't have that much to start with. We have hundreds of miles of groomed trails in our province of New Brunswick so its a big tourism promotion to visit here and snowmobile. The only thing I'm concerned about is no toilets!! Haha. It could be interesting.

    1. Lovely! Glad you are getting more snow... we have had rain here too, and warm temps, melting the snow. We did get a bit of snow last night, which has covered the trees again, so they aren't so bare, and it looks pretty again.

      Snowmobiling is a huge sport up here too. In the winter it is like tourist season with all the snowmobilers hauling around their equipment. We tend to just enjoy the back wood trails around our home, for now at least. I look forward to hearing about your snowmobile ride, if you get brave enough to get out and do it :) And yeah... the bathroom thing... not so fun, lol! Living out here where we do... a nice shady tree has been the perfect cover for me more than once as we've traveled back roads and trails, lol!

      I do hope you have a blessed and wonderful day! :)
