"Happy, happy, happy" they were saying through their little chortles of glee as they eagerly searched the ground for tidbits to munch on.
As the snow began to melt quickly, the ground underneath was still frozen, so a lot of water and mud were in the yard. Poor Goldie looks like she fell into the mud puddle!
They were quite thrilled with finding new things to explore again, instead of being confined to tight quarters.
This was our driveway as the melt began in earnest... a nasty mess for sure!
A neighbor invited me to walk with her and her sweet dog, Neecha. Neecha is a sweet girl, but she and Annie don't get along. So Annie didn't get to walk with us.
It was a rather gray day as we walked, but the mountains in their stately blue glory under the dark cloud cover were lovely.
Another neighbor's horses came out to greet us as we passed by. These are her "babies" ... foals and colts born last year.
They were starting to shed their winter coats... and were kicking up their heels in joy about it all!
The neighbor keeps treats in her pockets for them, and so we got to pet them as they came to the fence to get their treats.
They didn't stay at the fence long. A treat or two, some petting, and then it was off to the races again!
The snow is fading fast from the fields and valleys, but the mountains hopefully will keep their snow for a while yet!
Neecha enjoyed her walk and looked at me sadly when we parted ways. What a sweet girl she is!
Back home, this one was dreaming of spring too. But since he doesn't like mud and water, he was staying warm and dry inside for now.
And nothing speaks louder about spring than tulips!
Bright, and beautiful, and full of hope!
I picked these up at the store. I don't have tulips planted yet here.
There is hope in my heart. Spring is coming!

ReplyDeleteThose horses are funny. They look like they are excited about Spring.
Of all the pictures in this post, the last one is my favorite! It just shouts SPRING!
I do so love winter... but now my heart is greatly anticipating spring! The chickens are so happy to be out of their coop after the winter months, and it is so much fun to see them out in the yard again. I'm glad spring is on its way!
DeleteYour words and photos are both absolutely lovely and warm my heart and soul!!
ReplyDeleteWe are both greatly anticipating spring, aren't we! I still haven't seen the robins yet, but I have hope they are on their way! :)
DeleteI can not express the joy I feel when I see your landscape of beauty. It is so breathtaking. I love it. Hope is on the way though...Spring is in the air.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to share the beauty of God's creation with others! What a joy it is indeed to see the warmth of spring weather warming the ground, and our souls! Have a blessed day my friend!
DeleteSuch a lovely post and glorious photos of your fading, wintry world. Oh what a sublime part of the world you live. Your girls are so sweet. Soon there will be more delights to pick at with the hope of Spring in the air. What an adorable puppy, Neecha is and as for your ginger fellow....he definitely has the right idea of where to be on a chilly morning.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have to pinch myself because the beauty around is so glorious, and I'm so thankful to be able to share it with others, all the way around the world! Indeed, spring is in the air, although the weather reports are hinting at a bit of snow this coming week, lol! And I still haven't seen the robins yet :) My ginger fellow loves the comfy warmth of the house indeed, he doesn't care much for winter at all.
DeleteAppreciate your visit today, always a joy to read your thoughts :)
Hi MM! I really enjoyed your walk with you, the horses were so sweet! But most of all, love those tulips! They are a wonderful splash of color and hope to me. Last weekend we were at my daughter's house and it was in the 60's. Heavenly!! But life is back to normal, and so is winter. Can't wait for Spring too :)
ReplyDeleteWeekend blessings my friend,
Ceil
Wow, 60 degrees! We had 50 degrees here yesterday and I just wanted to stay outside all day! It was soo beautiful! We haven't seen any robins here yet, so I am going to wait to pronounce spring officially here until I see them... but it is indeed coming... soon! :)
DeleteHello friend!!
ReplyDeleteThe mountains are so beautiful in the distance. You're so lucky to have that view!! Always love seeing photos of your animals and reading about them!! Such fun you have! Hope all is well. Will you be joining in on the teacup swap? Xoxo
Linda
Hello dear Linda, so happy to see you here! I do feel so very blessed to have the views that we have here all around us, and how I do love to share with others the beauty of the Lord's creation! And indeed, I am looking forward to another teacup exchange with Stephanie, so excited about this! Will you be joining in as well? So thankful for the friendships that the teacup exchange brought into our lives! Have a blessed day my friend! :)
DeleteThank you for taking me along on your walk through your gorgeous photos of your spectacular area. I loved seeing your chickens, the horses and deer, the cat and dog,the mountains and the ever changing sky. My youngest son, who lives in Dallas, has chickens and I love getting fresh eggs!
ReplyDeleteI read about your dear hubby's burn on your property in Texas. I know you must've been so worried, but your sweet prayers kept you ever faithful. Thank the Lord that all will be well with him. God bless you.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the walk! There is always so much beauty here, sometimes it is hard to believe I live here :) My chickens are constant sources of entertainment, especially now that they are out of the coop again after a long winter inside. Thank you for your good wishes about my husband's burn... amazingly he has healed up really fast, and we are so thankful for that! God is good! Appreciate your visit and your friendship! Have a wonderful day :)
DeleteOh, your photos are so breathtakingly beautiful, as usual! I am so thankful you saw some glimpses of springtime, bless your dear heart. I loved taking a "virtual" walk with you. The horses are so noble looking and beautiful. Such an amazing, God-saturated place to walk! Sending you big hugs and lots of love, sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't feel so much like spring here today, maybe I need to go buy more tulips, lol! We had some snow in the air today, but it won't last :) Hope you are having a blessed and wonderful day today my friend!
DeleteSuch a wonderful post, gorgeous photos. I guess that if you have a 'proper' winter then the arrival of spring is even more welcome :-)

We had a proper winter, albeit the snow melted a bit early, so indeed, we are believing that spring is on its way, slowly but surely! I still haven't seen the robins yet though :)
DeleteBeautiful!!! I sure hope and pray about spring...not that this winter has been exceptionally hard like the two previous winters, but, enough is enough, lol. Thank you for the smiles. Have a beautiful weekend, friend.
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming, slowly but surely! We are getting lots of rain today and I think I need to go and buy some more tulips :) Have a wonderful day!
DeleteWaiting for spring here, too, with baited breath...and lots of tulips! ;)
ReplyDeleteMe too! It is raining here today. I need some more pretty tulips :) LOL!
DeleteWe have Spring Fever here! I am like your sweet cat, I do not like mud.
ReplyDeleteI loved your photos today. :-))
You, me and the cat agreed ... we don't like mud! LOL! Unfortunately here in the north, spring and mud go hand in hand! :)
DeleteOh! Those chickens look so happy. Mine won't step foot out into the snow. You have the loveliest places to walk and such beauty surrounds your home. Great blessings all around.....Have a sweet day my friendXXOO
ReplyDeleteChickens don't like the snow at all, that's for sure! They are so happy now that they can get out of the coop and dig in the dirt! Hope you are having a blessed and wonderful day my friend :)
DeleteAs always I am blessed by your posts! I love winter, but find myself longing for spring about now; it's a tough reality, but we probably won't have it until May. However, even 55-60 degrees is perfect if there isn't any wind. I've been walking as much as possible, trying to get ready for short weather. Ugh-need to walk a whole lot more though. Sorry Annie didn't get to go walking, but your neighbors dog reminded me of the Standard Poodle pup my daughter is getting next week-can't wait for another pup in the family. I could do without all the rain and mud in the spring too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great afternoon.
Hugs,
Noreen
Yes, we probably won't have true spring here until April or May too. Yet, our snow has melted, and days are warming up - so I am thankful for that. Today it is dripping rain, and muddy... the not so fun part of spring's arrival :) How awesome that you are getting a standard poodle in your family, so exciting! Have a wonderful day :)
DeleteWhat a lovely post! Your chickens are a wonderful sight and bring back such sweet memories of my grandparents' farm. The horses are beautiful as are all your landscape pictures. I think your kitty has the right idea, staying indoors where it is cozy and warm. Beautiful pink tulips too! A glorious post heralding Spring! Thank you for sharing and enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Thank you Sandi, it was a joyous time to be outside and seeing the snow melt, and the animals so happy about it too! Today is one of those cozy, stay inside days, with the dripping rain outside, hence my having more time to post and visit, lol! When it is pretty outside, it is very hard for me to come inside! Hope you are having a blessed and wonderful day my friend, always such a joy to have you visit here :)
DeleteA taste of Spring, how wonderful. I love your neighbor's horses, they are a joy to watch when they're racing around. Especially when they have Spring fever. I have been wanting some chickens but haven't really researched it yet, are they very much trouble? We have a lot of coyotes here so my husband is concerned about that and the smell LOL.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, so happy to have you visiting here... it is almost like over the fence, isn't it! I just love how blogging has opened up friendships in wonderful ways :) About the chickens, we have coyotes here too. Lots of them. However, our dogs keep them away during the day, and at night we lock the chickens up in the coop to keep them safe from night predators. My chickens free range all day, and put themselves to bed on the roost each night around dark, and I just lock up the coop door. Having a good dog that won't hurt the chickens, but kept in the yard with the chickens helps out with the predators. As for the smell... well, you can clean out the coop quite easily each week or so, and that really helps keep the smell down. If you have any more questions, just email me... the little I know, I'll be glad to share :) Have a blessed day!
