Foxwood Tea House

 Today I want to share a delightful experience that took place over 8 years ago.  A dear friend of mine and I visited a local teahouse together.  We were treated to a 5-course meal in a charming home served by the owner in a most delightful setting.  It was a treasured time for both of us.  I've always wanted to create a memory book of that visit, but have never gotten around to doing it.

Recently I became a member of a digital scrapbooking group where each month the members receive incredibly beautiful digital files to use in their own projects. The Handmade Club's owner Kerry-Anne lives in Australia, and she is a precious soul who crafts the most beautiful files and shares them with her private member's group (which is VERY reasonably priced!) and as well, on her website, she also shares a lot of freebies.  I have dabbled in digital scrapbooking for years, but paper scrapbooking and card-making will always be my first love.  The nice thing about Kerry-Anne's digital creative work is that you can print them out yourself, or you can use them digitally, making it a win-win for me :)

January's kit for the Handmade Club was titled "Teatime Friends".  I knew when I saw this kit that I needed to create a digital scrapbook of our visit to the Foxwood Tea House.

So, today I am going to share with you my digital scrapbooking pages created with Kerry-Anne's most recent member's kit, Teatime Friends.  Now, I am not a pro at Photoshop at all, but her images make the work of creating a digital scrapbook quite simple and so much fun!  I smiled as I created, remembering the special Mother's Day tea that my dear friend Robin and I were able to attend.  Sadly, this tea house has since closed down, in fact, it closed not long after we had this tea together.  But I'm thankful for the special memories that we were able to make together and to be able to share them here with you today.

I hope you enjoyed my fun trip back through time into this delightful tea house!  We have no other tea room in our area any longer, and that makes me sad, as I dearly love tea-time adventures :)

Even though Foxwood Tea House is no longer available to visit... my daily tea time adventures always continue.  Canadian-born soul that I am, taking a daily tea is a precious time to me.  I enjoy coffee in the morning with my Bible and Jesus, but in the afternoon, if time allows for it, tea-time is a chance for me to correspond with dear friends.  I try to write several cards a week to friends that around the world.  I also teach a bible study once every two weeks and hold a ladies prayer meeting in my home each week, so I often share tea with those ladies as well.  There is something special about tea, prayer and fellowship with dear friends who love the Lord!

I must have color in my world!  This time of year, I enjoy fresh tulips from the local market, until the day that they bloom in my own garden :)

Something about their bright colors bring joy into my heart!

I made this little scripture journal some time ago, and keep it in a place where I can read the scriptures often, and see them as I am at work around my home. It is good to have scriptures in places around your home to remind you of the promises of the Lord throughout the day.

I am hopelessly in love with teacups, and even though I live in a very tiny home (less than 800 square feet), I have created a space in front of our living room window to display my favorite teacups.

Reading one of my favorite magazines... Tea Time... and I have a certain furry orange-haired dear soul that loves to come and join me for my perusal through the magazine {smiles}!

Carnations in a pretty vase... pearls and ribbons...

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I've decorated with a few touches of red and pink throughout my home.

As the snow falls gently today, really not amounting to anything at all... still as I watch it half-heartedly fall to the ground in gentle whispers of white, I enjoyed sharing with each of you some of the little things in my life that are blessings to me today, and I hope you've enjoyed the journey with me to a tea-time at a tea house, and the tea adventures I continue to have. I wish all of you many sweet and precious blessings from the Lord, who is the dearest and most precious love of my life.

My soul, wait thou only upon God;
for my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory:
the Rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times ye people,
pour out your heart before him:
God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Psalms 62:5-8

  2. What a lovely time at that tea room and what fun to share it digitally. It's been a few years since I've had a tearoom experience. I like your scripture journal, too. A wonderful blessing to enjoy Bible Study and tea with other ladies. Blessings...

  3. I enjoyed seeing how you scrapbooked your special day at Foxwood Tea House. Each photo was lovelier than the previous one it seemed. It's unfortunate that the place is no longer open. That seems to be the fate of small tea places. The same thing has happened here in the town I live in.
    Your Tulips and Carnations are amazing. Have a Happy Valentine's Day!!

  4. Your adventure to the Tea House looks like so much fun. How I wish I lived just a bit closer and could attend your prayer gatherings and have tea with you. Our future daughter-in-law is an attorney in London. She knows I love tea and regularly sends me her favorite teas from the shops close to her home. She has made me promise that as soon as travel is allowed, we will come visit and she wants to take me to tea at the really big hotel in London where the high tea is famous. My mind has just gone blank! Oh my goodness! I must be really getting old. We talk about it all of the time and she tells me of the beautiful scones and sandwiches, etc. I did have tea at Harrod's one time when we were in London, but we were really rushed and really didn't get to enjoy it.
    I love the idea of a little scripture journal. Dennis and I were reading the Bible together this afternoon and he caught a glimpse of my Bible. He hadn't realized that my cover is disintegrating on the back! We got on Amazon together and chose a new beautiful leather cover to hold it together. He offered to buy me a new Bible, but I love mine. Our children gave it too me for Christmas in 1998. My previous Bible had REALLY fallen apart beyond repair. In my new one, each child wrote their favorite scripture verse in their own handwriting. Alex had just learned to write in cursive that year! Oh how precious it is to me. I will never part with this Bible. So I taped the pages back and will use the new cover to hold it together! I think it's a good sign when it's falling apart. Well used!
    My goodness I went off on a tangent! I'm sorry Marilyn.
    Love your teacups too. I hope to collect some new ones when we get settled in the house. I gave mine all away when we moved. The new house has a gorgeous china cabinet that they are leaving for us! Yay!
    Have a lovely Sunday, resting in the Lord and His word.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  18. That is a beautiful scrapbook of a beautiful memory. I have never been to a tea house. There is one less than 3 miles away from me! I should check it out. I don't even know if it's still open!

  19. Oh this brings back so many memories of 'scrapbooking' my daughter's weddings instead of buying a wedding album from the photographer. Priceless!

    And I love how you settle in with a cup of tea and some correspondence in the afternoon. What a beautiful way to care for others well in this difficult season.

    As ever, I leave here encouraged, Marilyn!

  21. Such pretty scrapbook pages Marilyn! I love Kerryanne too and belong to her Handmade Club. When she came out with the Teatime Friends, I was so happy! I LOVE LOVE LOVE doing digital scrapbooking! Close to My heart used to have a program where you could make your 12x12 digital pages and they would print them on beautiful papers and mail them to you. They don't have it any longer though. Now I must make my pages 8-1/2 x 11 so I can print them myself, which works fine too. I have my 12x12 pages in a big 12x12 3 ring binder album. I have so many of Kerryanne's sets, but haven't made anything from them! I want to make some journals using her beautiful papers.. and I do like to fussy cut some of her darling images. Oh... and your tea photos are wonderful.. and that teahouse you did have looked beautiful.. so sad it's gone now. We do have a little shop about 25 miles away but I have never gone and I'm not even sure if it's still open sadly. My mom always had afternoon tea with some sweets... and I got into the habit too, so do it almost every day, although I start out my morning with tea.. and drink it throughout the day! 4:00 is usually my 'tea time" with a cookie or yummy treat. Take care.. sending hugs.... Marilyn
