Spring sunshine has arrived - oh glory! After a long wet winter - what joy it is to have days in a row of sunshine! Springtime birds are arriving, and we can hear the sound of robins singing, while rain drips from the rooftops - signifying Spring's arrival. Even though it is muddy and rainy this time of year, we know that March and April showers bring May flowers, and for that, we rejoice!
Our area has little marshes that fill up with water in the springtime, and there is always a variety of ducks enjoying the water! This is a male mallard drake enjoying the muddy spring waters! |
Just a few days ago - this was our backyard scene. A snowstorm came through with about 5" of snow overnight - and it was 12 degrees the next morning! |
The fir trees were blanketed with snow, creating the illusion of snow-covered fingers! |
The sun was high in the sky with brilliant blue skies - a perfect day to romp around in our forest with Riley - I knew the snow wouldn't last - and we were out enjoying it while we could! |
That evening, a glorious sunset filled the skies, and the snow reflected the pink-raptured tones. |
A dear member of our community many years ago erected a cross on this rock outcropping next to a major highway in our area. Vandals have destroyed it several times. |
The rock outcropping, where the cross is placed, provides a scenic view of the Pend Oreille River, a glorious scene to behold any day of the year! |
The absence of ice fishermen can be attributed to the recent string of warm days. The entire lake was still completely frozen solid, but I did not test it out! |
I enjoyed the view from the dock. It was just beautiful - and the eagles were off in the distance - I could hear them calling to each other, but they never got close enough for me to photograph them. |
Just between you and me - I really love Winter - and scenes like this make my heart so happy. But I am ready to see some green now too...! |
The cross's power and the impact it has had on our lives since that day over 2000+ years ago cannot be denied, no matter how people may try to destroy it. Calvary's cross was a pivotal point in time - the death of Christ dates our calendars. The life of Christ has transformed and changed our world. You can try to take the cross down, or deny that Christ ever lived - but it won't change the fact that the Power of the Cross still lives on today through the redemption offered to each and every one of us through the blood of Jesus Christ and His triumphant resurrection defeating death, hell and the grave. His Spirit was sent to live with us on the Day of Pentecost, and now He lives in our hearts. What a joy it is to know the power of the cross in our lives!
If you have not experienced Jesus Christ in your life and would like to know more, please message me - I would love to talk to you!
Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus,
the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrews 13:20-21 "Now the God of peace
that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great shepherd of the sheep through the blood
of the everlasting covenant,
make you perfect in every good work to do his will,
working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory
forever and ever, Amen."
God bless each of you, I love you all dearly, and pray for you every day!
Dearest Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteGot to be your 399th viewer of the video from your breathtaking images!
You live in paradise and for acknowledging our Creator, makes it all complete.
What a shame that such beautiful cross got vandalized! There are so many huge crosses all over the world and they're great anchors of our world.
Thanks for sharing your fade–out of winter with gorgeous photos.
Hugs,
Mariette
I appreciate your faithful viewing of my videos, thank you for being the 399th viewer! I do live in such beautiful country, and I love to share it through music that worships our Lord! Many blessings to you dear friend!
DeleteI love love love the cross. It is sad that there are those out there that would vandalize something so dear as the cross, a treasure that people admire. So glad that it has been erected again. What a very special place it must be and so much beauty surrounding it. The winter pictures are quite stunning. Truly is like so many magical Winter scenes. Thank you for the video.
ReplyDeleteThe cross is lovely, Marilyn. It's so sad that it's been vandalized so many times, but I love the fact that it keeps getting replaced. It's a true treasure. What a beautiful part of the world you live in, especially when the earth begins to wake up and bloom again in spring. Thank you for sharing that beauty with us!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, the beautiful Pend Oreille River. How I miss it and the mountains surrounding it. We're planning our Spokane trip right now. We've made camping reservations for the trip out there and four days on the Oregon coast. We'll have two weeks in Spokane and stay in our good friends driveway. We've done it before. They call it our own personal resort, available any time! Last year was when Dennis was hurt on our first night of the drive there, so we stayed in their guest suite. They call it the Queen Suite because we're the only ones who have ever slept there. Lovely Christian friends. We'll have 3 Sundays to visit our church there too.
ReplyDeleteYou KNOW I loved every bit of this post Marilyn. Except the story of the cross that keeps getting vandalized. We need to pray for those people, that it will make their hearts burn and turn them towards to Lord. I appreciated your scripture passages and the video too. I especially love the scenery of our beautiful North Idaho. My heart does still live there even though my body is in Nebraska. :-)
Praying that you will have a lovely Wednesday, filled with the Lord's blessings my friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Thank you for another uplifting and encouraging post. Also the pictures...you live in such a beautiful area whether winter or spring!
ReplyDeleteOh vandalism. How it disgusts me. We see the 3 crosses along the freeways here and I think most are still, thankfully, standing. I love to see them, and to think Easter will be upon us soon. Your photos are beautiful reminder of our Maker. However, I appreciate the green more than the white, lol. Have a peaceful and joyful week. Lynn and Precious XX
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your snow photos, Marilyn! Our snow was almost gone and is back again too, with glitter on the trees from freezing rain as well. Pretty but dangerous for walking!
ReplyDeleteThere will always be those few people who like nothing better than to tear down instead of build up one another and the traditions we hold dear. While they may physically dismantle a cross, their efforts are fruitless when it comes to the everlasting endurance of our Lord and Savior.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marilyn, for all the breathtaking photos!

ReplyDeleteThat's so sad that the Cross was tampered with. I'm glad that another one was put up, and securely fastened. It seems Spring has arrived in your area. It's been sunny here too the last couple days, but not sure that Winter is quite over yet, but it will be nice to see some green, like you said. I like that picture with the snow on the fir trees, it's so pretty. How interesting you got to see the lake frozen over. I've always wanted to see our creek during the snow, but it's not an easy drive to get to with the slippery and snowy roads. Enjoy these sunny days, Marilyn. Your photos always make my heart smile. : )
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Such a handsome drake! He looked like he was smiling. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow pictures- and that lake is gorgeous!!!!
I'm so sorry that the cross on the hill has been through a lot. But you're right: it doesn't take away from the fact that Christ died for us and is sitting on the right hand of the Father, waiting for the rapture! He is so good! Thank you for the encouragement. I can see our finances tightening again and find myself getting anxious. But the Lord is with us.
God bless you, Marilyn!

What a beautiful post, sweet friend. It is always such a joy to visit with you and see your wonderful photos. It made me so sad to read of the awful vandalism of the precious cross. What they don't realize is that it represents that our dear Jesus died for the very ones who tore it down. He loves them in spite of their hatred of Him and their denial of His sacrifice. Just as with the Roman soldiers who put Him to death, His arms are still outstretched to the ones today who fight against His cause. May He bless you and your family and community.
ReplyDeleteI love the gorgeous combination of the sun on the snow!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely post, Marilyn!!! Not that any of them ever aren't, but the Scriptures you shared and the paragraph about resting in Him brought tears to my eyes. I'm so grateful God called me into his household so long ago, and that I have such a beautiful family now!!! I love you, my friend. God's greatest blessings to you as you walk out your place in His kingdom!!! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet gift from the LORD to be able to experience four seasons and to be content in them. You captured the beauty of your surroundings so well. We have a cross up on a mountain above Colville that can be seen from downtown Colville. It has had some vandalism and some who protest that it is up there ..."The Colville Latin Cross that overlooks the city, and lit at night, has been a landmark since school children first put it up on city land in 1950 and it's locally famous. About the same time, the school children painted a huge C on the side of the mountain. "After it was vandalized in 2001 and threatened with a lawsuit, a family in Loon Lake who owned 2 acres right next to the original place of the cross welcomed an organization to erect the new cross...built with steel slats." Sorry to hijack your comments and put all this info here. It is so good to be able to celebrate the wonder of what Christ did on the Cross for us and what His resurrection insures for us. Six more days till it is officially Spring. Enjoy the last of the snow, Marilyn.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, how lovely to have all that so close to home, we have to travel out of our farm land for quite some time to get these kind of views :) That is so sad about the vandals and the cross, I can't see what they think they get out of destroying that, sometimes you just can't imagine what goes through others minds I guess. Spring will be here soon, our trees are all flowering now it is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your part of the world with us here, your photographs are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI was saddened reading about the vandals and the cross.
Sending my good wishes.
All the best Jan
