This year, Spring's arrival isn't nearly as anticipated as it usually is. I don't remember having a winter like this with such a scarcity of snow and cold. Now, I can hardly believe that the clocks have jumped forward, and Spring is making its appearance! We are still getting heavy frosts, but with no snow, early spring blooms will arrive soon! The skies have been amazing, my sweet kitty Ash joined me on an evening walk as the sun was setting. She and I both were so amazed at the skies!
The colors were incredible, deepening as we walked along.
The stunning colors reminded me of the love of God - how rich, how deep, how pure, how marvelous! Spreading, reaching, expanding deep into our lives!
The skies reminded me of this verse in Isaiah.
Isaiah 49:13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
I rejoice that the comfort and mercies of the Lord are as expansive and incredible as the evening skies!
My Mom came to visit last week. We had so much fun together, and the week went by too fast!
Lots of precious time with the grandbabies!
It was also a very "puzzling" time! Mom loves to put puzzles together, so she put several of them together while she was here! We call her the Puzzle Genius!
She had some help, but she did most of the work to put this puzzle together in a day!
We celebrated Mom's 75th birthday, as well as Danielle's and Zak's birthdays. I made sourdough chocolate cake and sourdough strawberry yogurt cake - they were all delicious!
Here is the recipe I created for her cake. Everyone loved it, and it will be on repeat for our future family gatherings! I used a sourdough cake recipe, added strawberry yogurt, whipped cream, and strawberries on top. It was delicious! (You can right-click on the picture to save.)
We enjoyed a wonderful time together! I made sourdough pizza too. It was a fun day for us all.
I also held a Pampered Chef party while Mom was here! The host was a neighbor's daughter who has a 6-month-old-old baby, and is just starting in the business. She made their classic breakfast ring, a fruit salad, and infused water.
My sourdough loaf, which I made two days before the party and let rise in the refrigerator, turned out lovely! I love this versatility with sourdough!
Appetizers, dips, and sourdough bread were made for everyone to enjoy while she prepared the main meal. I had 15+ guests, so my little home was full! Everyone reported having such a good time.
One morning, we watched this female crossbill gather Bandit's fur from the top of the post. Bandit likes to climb up here to look around. Now his fur is being recycled, lol!
It was so nice to have my mother here for a visit, and to spend so much time visiting and loving on the grandbabies. The house seems so quiet now that she has gone.
Now that "Spring has sprung" forward, I plan to spend time out in the garden getting it ready for the season. I enjoy the rest during winter, and now it is time to begin another season! With each season change, I pause to remember how the Lord allows seasons in our lives, too. He doesn't allow us to get too comfortable in one place or season. Just like the seasons, He keeps us moving forward. Life is full of change - even as much as we dislike it. Some change is good; other change is difficult.
Are you looking forward to Spring? Has Spring made an appearance in your world? Soon, I hope to see the cheery faces of daffodils appearing. It won't be long :)
I chose to share this video, created several years ago. It is a favorite of mine, and I hope you get to enjoy Early Morning Breezes in this 2026 Spring season! Blessings to all of you :)
Isaiah 49:13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
Happy Monday!!! I was so excited when I saw you posted. I zoomed right over. What a precious time with your mom and also the time with family. You are so right about seasons... God, doesn't let us get too comfortable in them, does He? Hint... the name of blog... One Season to the Next... LOL! The pictures of the sky are beautiful and the verse fits so perfect. Have a wonderful week.
Oh that's so sweet of you, Chrissy! I agree, the name of your blog fits this beautifully! It is one season to the next, always a bit of change going on, even though we don't always like it! Blessings to you!
We have had a brutal winter in Michigan so everyone is thrilled with signs of Spring and melting snow. As for the time change, I could do without it, but the longer days are a nice benefit. Glad you got time with your mom and were able to enjoy having her and your grandbabies together. That is precious time! Pampered Chef makes such great products. I'm impressed with your sourdough. Someday I want to learn how to make it.
I think the east coast got much of the snow we needed, lol! We did have such fun with my Mom. And I have PC products from over 30 years ago, truly amazing. I think you would enjoy sourdough. Endless possibilities :) Blessings to you!
I'm going to make some sourdough starter today! I can't believe how little snow we've had here in Colorado. I love winter. I miss it! Your views are lovely and your mama, too! xo
You get the best sunsets where you live, Marilyn. Yes, God's palate is most definitely being fully employed! So wonderful that your mother got to visit and you could all celebrate her birthday, along with Danielle's and Zak's, together. The cake looks amazing, too. Enjoy all the beauty spring has to offer!
Oh I love the grandeur in the skies we have here, Martha, never ceases to amaze me! We had such a special time with my Mom, so very thankful to spend this time with her! Happy Spring to you!
Sitting and chatting with your Mom while doing a jigsaw puzzle sounds so wonderful. Even after so many years I still miss my Mom. I enjoyed your sky photos and your sourdough loaf looks wonderful.
I love your sunset pics especially the last one. How lovely to have your mom visit and to celebrate the birthdays. I'm allergic to strawberries but my husband would love that dessert! Pampered Chef parties are always fun and yours looks like it was awesome. Spring is just starting to make its appearance here in eastern NY. I see some green shoots in my front flower garden (my irises poking through already!) and my neighbor has a daffodil coming up. All of our yard snow has melted although the mountains still have plenty. HAPPY SPRING!!
Wow Marilyn.... GORGEOUS skies as usual there in your slice of Heaven! And double wow... you've been doing alot of cooking! I wish I could eat sourdough as love it, but it's not gluten free! That cake looks devine.. and your bread, as always, makes me wish I could eat it! Where do you get your energy??? Tell us your secret! I'm so glad you got to be with your mama. I so wish she lived closer.. is there any chance of that? These are precious years left and wish you could spend more time with her. I, as an older mom, chose to leave where I had lived for 10 years, to move to be closer to my son. I'm SO GLAD I did! I now get to share much more in his life and every day happenings. It's a priceless time for me, and I know it will go by all too quickly. Oh how I wish your mama could live closer to you! I've never been to a pampered chef party, but it looks like fun. There are a few little teases here or spring. We've had a few sunny and warmer days, but today is stormy and rain, sleet and hail l "squalls". They move through so fast! The wind kicks up, and the rain and hail starts, and it's gone in 15 minutes to see blue skies again! I guess March is coming in like a lion here.. maybe it will go out like a lamb? Blessings to you..... hugs... Marilyn
I am so thankful you are able to make all these memories with your son, Marilyn! I don't know where I get the energy, just get up and keep moving every day, lol! So thankful my Mom is able to travel still! Winter is showing up late here, but we are thankful, we need the moisture! You're right, March will probably leave like a lion, lol! Spring blessings to you!
We didn’t have much snow this year either. I saw my first robin on Saturday and it made me so happy. I even took our fleece sheets off the bed Sunday afternoon and put the summer sheets on. We left today and drove to Joplin, Missouri on our trip to Texas for a few weeks of camping. We de-winterized the camper after we got to the campground today because it was still freezing at home. It all went well thank goodness. It looks like you’ve had a busy time at your house. I’m glad you had such a wonderful visit with your Mom. I still miss my Mom. She’s been gone 45 years and the missing her hasn’t changed at all. I used to sell Pampered Chef years ago. It is a great product. Quality made. Blessings and hugs, Betsy
I'm so happy to hear that you are going on a spring camping trip in Texas. The most beautiful time of the year for Texas is springtime with the bluebonnets. We had such a wonderful visit with my Mom, and we would love to see those bluebonnets, but not sure it is going to happen this year. Pampered Chef is one of the few companies that have survived the test of time, and even thrived! Blessings to you sweet friend!
Marilyn, what a nice visit you had with your dear mom. The cake you made for her looks so Yummy. I love the picture of her holding the babies. Wow, she sure is a puzzle genius putting all those puzzles together. You know, I've been to a few Pampered Chef parties, and they are fun. I see the birds are coming around there, and here as well. I love to hear their song. Strange that you didn't get much snow this season. I always come over here and it's a winter wonderland. All seasons are different, and it seems that we had much more snow in the previous years that this one. I also wanted to mention how much I love that Isaiah verse; thank you for sharing that. And the skies are beautiful with all the colors. I wish you a blessed March week, Marilyn.
*how neat that you were that close to Princess Diana while she was shaking hands on the other side of the isle. She was so friendly and loving. Thank you for sharing your story, Marilyn. It was delightful to read. : )
I do miss Princess Diana so much, she was a beacon of grace and beauty in so many ways. So sad. I am glad you enjoyed the Isaiah verse - we are studying Isaiah in our bible study, and so many verses from that book have become my favorites! Many blessings to you dear friend, always appreciate your visits!
Marilyn, so wonderful you had a nice visit with your mom. I bet she loved holding the littles. The puzzle queen fits your mom. The cake looks delicious. You live in a very special place. The birds are singing here and the weather is nice and warm. Enjoy your piece of paradise.
Mom is in her element with the great-grands! She had a good time, and we miss her so much. I'm glad you are having nice weather, it will come here soon enough. For now, we are enjoying more snow! Blessings to you!
Gorgeous skies, so full of intense colour! I'm glad you had such a great visit with your mom. She looks so happy holding the babies. The Pampered Chef party sounds like fun with lots of delicious food. Enjoy this month of emerging Spring!
Mom was so happy to be here, truly in her element! I love any reason to host a party, and the Pampered Chef party was so much fun. Happy Spring to you, Lorrie!
Gorgeous sky photos as always! I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your mom. It brought back memories of my mom who I still miss after 23 years! All the food looks so good too! I haven't been to a Pampered Chef party in forever but occasionally I see a online party someone is throwing! Have a blessed week, my friend!
Oh I can imagine how much you miss your mother! There is just no one like your mother! The Pampered Chef party was so fun, and I love any reason to have dear neighbors and friends over. March blessings to you!
Hello, Oh, I just love your posts. They make me smile, no matter what kind of worry I have on my heart. Have you started seeds? I started some peppers and eggplant. I will work on starting some more this week. xo Carla
I'm glad my posts make you smile, Carla! It is a worrisome season we live in, with so much uncertainty and sadness! I am starting seeds this week. It has been pushed back longer than I wanted. My garden won't be as big this year, so I am not in such a hurry. Have fun in your garden dear friend, it is something that brings such happiness to our hearts!
I think we've had all your snow this year, Marilyn!! You can come get it if you like! Haha!! It's been in the 60s for the past 2 or 3 days and we still have piles of it a few feet high. I, of course, am loving the warmth of these mild days and the appearance of the sun! I hope it lasts and spring sticks around...but I just heard there's snow in the forecast again for next week! Happy Birthday to all and glad you were able to visit with your mom! Happy Spring my friend!
I would definitely take more snow, Kim! We are getting some snow here, hopefully that will help our water resources in the mountains out, or it will be a hot long summer. I hope you get the spring you are looking for soon! It was a special visit with my Mom, so very thankful! Blessings to you!
As always, your nature photos refresh my soul, Marilyn. Thank you! And what a blessing that your mom came to visit. I am definitely looking forward to spring! Love and blessings to you!
Thank you so much for your kind words, Trudy, they are a blessing to me! It was so wonderful to have my Mom here, we are grateful beyond words! Many blessings to you dear friend!
A very happy birthday to them all but especially your mom , that is a milestone for sure! Wow she does put together a puzzle fast, we usually have ours around for a couple days. So nice to have all that time together, and good for the kids to know their great grandmother! How wonderful to see the pretty sunsets. We are starting to see the trees blooming, that always gets me excited.
Yes, my Mom is amazing at puzzles. I enjoy them, but not like she does! It is wonderful that she has been able to spend that time with her greatgrandbabies! We are so thankful! It is exciting to see things begin to bloom, it will be a while here yet for that, but I'm glad you are seeing it! Many blessings to you!
Your photos are absolutely stunning. A belated Happy Birthday to your mother. Here in Montreal we got freezing rain yesterday and there is ice and icicles everywhere. Fallen tree branches due to the weight of the ice and thousands in Quebec lost power. Your posts and blog are a joy to see, Marilyn. Thank you so much for sharing.
I'm so sorry to hear about the horrible weather in Quebec! We did have a windstorm here last week which caused power outages and downed trees locally, but thankfully we were okay. It is so difficult to lose power, especially in the winter! Thank you for your kind words and delightful visit, Linda!
Of course you were right about the rain chain. You must be an amazing cook. The sourdough loaf looks perfect, like in a bake shop window. Does your Mom live very far away? We could never finish a puzzle this large! About 500 pieces may be my limit.
Oh that's great, I am familiar with them since many of them are on homes here. We love to enjoy sourdough and I like experimenting with it. My mom lives in Texas, about 2500 miles away, so it is such a treat to have her fly up here and spend time with us! Spring blessings to you!
So wonderful to have your Mom visit and enjoy some lovely time with the grandbabies and family. Looks like everyone had a great time and the food looks amazing! Your sourdough recipes sound so good, too. I tried sourdough during the pandemic, but I could never get my bread to rise properly. I might try again sometime. Isn't it a blessing to have spring to look forward to after a long winter and start 'playing in the dirt' once more! Your sky photos are always so gorgeous and I am seriously impressed with your Mom's puzzle skills! I've been to the pampered chef parties and they are the best. I found quite a few great finds at them. Hope you have a good weekend with some sunshine to get outside in the gardens. It has turned cold and wet here. The seasons do build resilience and keep us looking forward, though. Blessings, dear friend. x K
We had such a good time with Mom here visiting, and I know how precious these memories are, and we cherish each one! Sourdough is a family favorite now, and I use it to make just about everything that has wheat in it. I appreciate your kind words about the pictures, it makes me happy to see the skies in such splendor! We have gotten snow here this week, and I am loving it, but I will be ready for spring very soon! Many blessings to you!

Yes, indeed so important to keep our minds and bodies busy as we age! Mom is doing so well for her age, and we are so thankful! Yes, I've used yogurt in cake many times, it makes it very moist, and a lovely texture. Paired with strawberries and cream, it is a delightful treat! Many blessings to you dear friend!
So sweet to visit with you, dear friend! The Pampered Chef party looks like SO much fun! I haven't gone to one of those in a very long time. I love their products and have some that I have used for many years. Your home is so beautiful! I'm so thankful your Mom was able to spend some time with you and visit. Blessings, dear friend. x K
ReplyDeleteWe had such a good time with Mom here visiting, and I know how precious these memories are, and we cherish each one!

I believe your mom is wise to keep her mind busy as science tells that the older we get the more our mind and body is vulnerable to decay,so it’s necessary to keep mind awaken and alert so he can hold complete command of our body. Happy birthday to your dear mother Marilyn ♥️ may she see many more with her beautiful family 🙏

Baili, what a delightful comment, I've read it several times, your thoughts are such a blessing to me, and I appreciate all your kind words! Your heart is so precious!
DeleteForgot to say I liked sourdough bread and cake 👍
ReplyDeleteThough it’s my first time I read that yogurt can be used in cake 🤗
So sweet to visit with you, dear friend! The Pampered Chef party looks like SO much fun! I haven't gone to one of those in a very long time. I love their products and have some that I have used for many years. Your home is so beautiful! I'm so thankful your Mom was able to spend some time with you and visit. That is amazing that she can do puzzles that quickly! My mom loved to do them, too. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family! Sending much love to you today and so looking forward to our visit tomorrow, Lord willing!!
ReplyDeletePampered Chef is one of those few companies who have survived the test of time, along with their products. I love any reason to host a party, and it was so much fun.
