Comfort Food at its Best

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

If you were to ask me what my favorite comfort food is... I wouldn't even have to think twice about it to answer that question... it would be a sandwich, of course!

I was making a sandwich and thought the colors were so fun together, that I snapped a few pictures to share.

Whole wheat bread, spread with mustard...

smoked turkey and cheddar cheese...

A couple of fresh from-the-garden Roma tomatoes...

... topped with green onions from the garden...

... and no sandwich is complete without yellow banana peppers - can I get an amen? {smile}

... it's all together now!

Yum yum yum!  Fresh crunchy pomegranates served up with a cuppa hot tea...

A comfort meal just doesn't get much better than this folks!

Served on a pretty plate...

Along with some time in the Word... now this constitutes a delightful repose in the midst of a busy day.
What is your favorite comfort food... is it a sandwich... or is it something sweet... salty... savory... crunchy... hot... sour?  I would like to hear your favorite sandwich combos, and/or your favorite go-to comfort food... please do tell!  :)

  5. Hello, My favorite meal is Swiss steak with mashed taters for a dinner meal. But I think I enjoy a grilled cheese with tomato soup, quick and easy!
I do enjoy coffee or tea at 3:00 most days!

    1. Oh, it was simple all right -- and simply delicious too heehee! I am going to miss the fresh tomatoes out of my garden! There are no store bought tomatoes that can compare! So, I am enjoying lots of sandwiches with garden tomatoes while I can :) I am so glad to have met you too Janet, and hope we can continue to visit each other in "blogland". Have a blessed day!

My comfort food is beef and noodles over mashed taters...yummy! Another one is grilled cheese, avocado and tomato sandwich with tomato soup...oh ya!
They are calling for cooler weather with a high chance of rain, so I may need some cozy comfort food for the rest of the week....

    1. Well I think I've got a menu list laid out for at least the next week or so, you ladies have shared some yummy go-to comfort foods! I do so love avocado with tomato anything, and am enjoying the last of my fresh garden tomatoes, will be so sad when they're gone, as store bought ones are just awful!

Well, I hope you get the cooler weather and rain.. we had a day or two of overcast drippy weather here, and it was so nice. Sun is back out today though :) Have a blessed week Amy! :)

  9. Yummy!!! You have a way of making things look so pretty and delicate and feminine and sweet in your photos. Always SUCH a wonderful joy to come here and visit with you, sweet friend. You are such a dear, precious blessing in my life. So, what is my favorite comfort food....hmmmm....okay, are you ready? Pinto beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread. I pile it up in layers...first I butter the cornbread muffin, then crumble it in the middle of a plate, then I add slices of onion, then a pile of fried potatoes (fried until they are crunchy and brown), then a ladle full of pinto beans with lots of soup, too, and I squirt ketchup all over the top. Zach calls it an old fashioned country pile-up!! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of getting home from school and seeing our kitchen windows steamed up in the cold, Ohio, winter air, and I would know Mom was in there cooking pinto beans! Now, I make this for my own little family, and there is no food in the world that makes me feel more comforted or more close to my precious memories of Mom, Dad, and childhood. Thanks for letting me share those memories here....sending you much love and many hugs across the miles!!!

    1. Oh what a yummy memory you shared! I bet you're going to have to go cook you some beans real soon, and make it up just like you shared... my goodness, if I wasn't hungry before I read this, I am now! Isn't it something how our most precious memories about food often center around something special that took place as a child? How awesome that you get to remember your precious mother every time you make beans, and eat your classic pile up! I enjoyed hearing your comfort food memory, and completely understand how it brings you back to childhood - for me, we ate a LOT of ham and mustard sandwiches, and for some reason that speaks to me of home, and warm kitchens, and precious family memories :) Thanks for sharing your comfort food memory, what a treasure it is to have a memory like that when you eat your "pile up". Praying the Lord is blessing you today with His presence :)
