I'm Back!

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

We traveled to Texas to be with family over Thanksgiving and had a blessed time with our family. While it is wonderful to get away, and see everyone, I can't tell you happy it feels to be back home in my own bed too!  Not to mention that I missed our dear animals so very much.  They were well taken care of by our precious neighbor who fed and loved them twice a day.

While in Texas, we were hoping to see some warm sunshine, but it wasn't to be!  It rained and rained and was cold almost the entire time we were there.

Back home, while we were gone, the sun shone most of the time, and a beautiful snow fell, and it was quite cold and beautiful.  I got to see the snow for one short beautiful day after our return.

Upon our return back to Idaho, we must have brought the rain back with us, because it has been raining almost nonstop since we got back!  All the snow that was here when we arrived home promptly melted the day after we returned!

I must tell you that I know we need rain, but snow makes my heart the happiest.  This rain we are getting is adding insult to injury.  The frozen ground is not absorbing the rain, as it usually would, and so the rain is just sitting in mud on top of the ground, and oh what a mess it is making!

Mud pies anyone?  We've got you covered!

Wet dogs and muddy paws?  Yup.  Check!

Chickens that don't want to leave the coop because its too wet and muddy for them?  Indeed!

And this weather pattern seems to be one that we may have to endure for the winter, according to the weather experts.  I must say that there won't be many photo opportunities with such weather on board this winter!

So, we shall have to make the best of it, and find something to do with mud and water... hmmm!  You can be sure I won't be asking my dogs for any ideas for activities related to mud and water, lol!

My daughter and I were "given" a stomach virus by a relative while in Texas, and spent the last several days of our trip sick in bed.  I had to fly home with unpleasant symptoms, something I hope never to repeat!  It has taken me a few days to recuperate and I am still on the mend, as I also picked up a head cold along the way.  However, I do feel much better today, and thankfully all that is behind us!

So today I am back, and hope to stop by to visit all my dear friends in "blogland" in the next day or two - I have missed you all, and want to hear what is happening in your lives.  I'm so thankful for this precious blogging community of sweet ladies, and hold all of you dear to my heart!

  1. Christmas greetings to you! It is always fun to see loved ones, but even better to be home(especially when you are sick). Flying when ill is awful~I did that once to Hawaii and even though you think it would be ok to have a flu in the islands, let me tell you it's not. All you really want to do is stay in your own bed at home. Our weather has been mild so far-a few days of snow, but we are supposed to get hit hard this winter. Hope you feel better each day!
    Blessings,
    Noreen

    1. Oh my goodness, being sick in Hawaii, how awful! Getting sick on vacation is always miserable because you are right - there is no place like your own bed when you are sick! I was so very glad to crawl into my own bed, and just be home!

I hope your weather continues to be nice - meanwhile here, the rain continues! We are expecting a heavy windstorm today as well which could mean power outages. Certainly hoping that doesn't happen.

Have a blessed and wonderful day, and thanks so much for your visit :)

  2. Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment. So sorry we did not have good weather for you while in Texas however since then, it has been near 80. Weird weather for sure!!I bet it was fun however seeing your loved ones over the holiday, but to end up with the flu is no fun at all. I traveled once on the plane with the flu that came on sudden and it was the worst flight ever. I know just how you felt.
Wishing you the blessings of the season and thanks again for stopping over. I sure enjoyed my visit here today! xo

    1. Yes, the weather was a bit disappointing, but we know that is par for the course in Texas! LOL... It has been indeed a year for strange weather patterns. We are suffering here from a lack of snow, and an abundance of rain, quite opposite of what usually happens here.

Being sick on a plane is absolutely miserable. We sat at the very back right next to the bathroom, and thankfully had no issues. Oh, but how glad I was to crawl into my own bed that night!

I enjoyed my visit at your amazing blog space today, and plan to be a return visitor :) Have a blessed and marvelous day!

  3. Oh no!! I am so sorry to hear that you guys picked up a bug. There's no place like home when you feel sick. I hope that you are able to enjoy your new place for the holidays, muddy paws and all...and shake that cold quickly!!

    1. I am quite behind this year in feeling like it is Christmas - especially with the lack of snow outside, and then being sick. However, I am being inspired by all my precious blogging friends who are quite talented in decorating for Christmas - namely you :) Have a wonderful day Kim! :)

  4. I'm so glad you were able to spend time with family. But, getting the stomach bug I'm sure was not fun. Glad to hear you are on the mend! ;)
We got snow last week and it stayed on the ground till a few days ago. Rain would be nice too, but yes too much rain does make for a diaster! Mud, mud everywhere!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment! It means a lot!
    Hugs to you, Amy

    1. It was a blessed time with family, while the "bug" was not so fun, lol! It is still raining here, we are getting quite the slew of rain here, which is good moisture for the trees, so I am trying to look at it from that angle. But when I am wiping down the mud off the dogs, it is a little harder, lol! Hope you are having a wonderful week yourself, and as always appreciate your visit, and friendship :)

    1. Oh dear Cheryl, thank you for the sweet wishes, indeed there really is no place like home, and especially when you are sick! I was so happy to be home, and am thankful all that is behind me now! I appreciate your prayers, and concern.. and I too hope that we get to have a White Christmas this year, that would be lovely. It seems the weather pattern is different this year, and we may not get much snow, just rain, so I am slowly coming to accept that, lol! I do trust that you are doing well, and the hugs are passed back to you with great love :)

  6. Oh goodness, I feel so sorry for you in having to travel while being sick! I can understand why you were happy to get home in your own bed.
It's been such a nice week here in Texas, but I flew to Ohio to cook Thanksgiving for my dear mom. I understand while I was gone, we had record rainfalls!
Thank you for your sweet visit to my blog. I appreciate your kind comments.

    1. How sweet of you to be with your Mom over Thanksgiving! What a blessing that must have been for her!

I do hear that the weather is much nicer this week in Texas... and I'm glad that you are getting some of the nice weather again. We have had unusual weather this year here, with little to no snow. I guess the weather is just unusual everywhere this year.

I do appreciate your return visit here, and will be visiting your blog again. I hope you have had a wonderful day!

  7. Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving, except for the trip back while sick.
I like getting back to my own bed too, and I know the animals missed you. :-)
Snow is much better in winter than rain. ♥

    1. Yes, indeed snow is better in winter, and I would be sad to see snow in summer, lol! A time and a season for everything, and I do hope we get some snow, but the weather patterns sure aren't forecasting much of the white stuff this year for us. So, I am trying to be thankful and appreciative of the mud... rather a difficult job, lol! Appreciate your visit here today, as always, and hope your sweet Ezra has been behaving himself ;)

    1. Well, I hope that we get some snow for you to see! LOL... you would think living here that we would have snow by now, but we don't. Just rain and mud! But you can be sure that if we get some snow, you will get to see it, because I look forward to the snow every winter. :) Appreciate you being my new friend and I look forward to getting to know you better!

  10. I'm glad you had a great trip and visit with family except for the stomach virus!! That would not be fun when flying for sure. I think the winter will be milder across the continent. It will be 9C here tomorrow but we did have our first snowstorm just a week ago and it was beautiful. It is now melting down with the warmer temps. Mud and rain are not a pleasant mix for dogs! Thanks for the reminder. :o) Some times I wish we had a dog again but.... Take care. Blessings, Pam

    1. Yes, indeed it does seem to be that we are getting a milder winter everywhere this year, which I am slowly accepting, lol! The mud and the rain is tougher to deal with than snow, but I still have not given up hope that we will get a nice snowfall yet this winter to enjoy :) And yes, it is times like this, with rain and mud, that having a dog becomes a lot of extra work, lol! Appreciate your visit today so very much, and hope you had a wonderful day :)
