HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Saturday, January 2, 2016

I know this post is a bit late to wish all my dear readers a Happy New Year, but ... better late than never, right!  It has been a wonderful season for us here, and we have been enjoying all the joys that this time of year brings.

On New Year's Day we took a drive up into the mountains.

The sun was out and it was a glorious day to be out!

The view of the mountains and lake were stunning...

The park was knee deep in snow.  Don't think a barbecue will be happening today, lol!

The incredible expanse of the lake, mountains, and snow was simply... exhilarating!

I love the six elements shared in exquisite beauty here ... snow, sand, water, trees, mountains and sky!

The water looked gentle and inviting... totally deceptive!

A view of the distant mountains... look to the top right of the picture, the small rectangle protruding rock... I will zoom in on it for you to see close up...

... and a closer view of the rock shaped like a chimney...

Another view of the snow, sand, and water...

Notice the rippled shape of the snow... that is where you can see the water come in at high tide to meet the snow.  We just happened to come today at low tide where you could see the sand.

Rocks that we usually climb in the summer for a better view of the mountains... but I'm not feeling like climbing them today, lol!

We walked out to the far rock, just because we could do it.  In the spring, these rocks will mostly be covered by the spring run-off water.

We spotted this twig, covered in ice... shimmering in the bright sunshine...

Pretty amazing to see the ice formation on this little twig, sticking up out of the rocks!

A local lodge/resort that is now closed for the winter.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't couldn't stop snapping pictures of this view... my camera simply could not do justice to the beauty unfolded there before us!

The snow is so soft looking, that you could almost imagine this as a hot sunny beach picture with soft white sand!  In reality, the temperatures were hovering right around 0 here!

Headed back home... the mountains were reflecting the quickly setting sun in the distance.

A beautiful day to enjoy... the first day of the year!  A prayer rose from our heart... Thank you Lord for this beautiful day you have created for us to enjoy!  May the new year 2016 draw us ever closer to you, and may our eyes never falter from looking to YOU, the Great Provider, Creator, Healer, Savior and Redeemer!  Praying all the blessings of the Lord on your life this year!

  2. Amen! I am at a loss for words after looking at your pictures. Magnificent! And I wonder if the lake ever freezes? Pity the lodge is closed. What a lovely place to stay and soak up all the winter wonderland.

    1. I understand what you mean, there is a loss for words when you are standing in the midst of such beauty, at times, it hurts my heart with it, because I want to capture it all and hold it for ever, and know I can't. Indeed it is an incredible winter wonderland here. The lake, to my knowledge, doesn't usually freeze, because it is so deep. Many lodges and resorts do stay open on this lake in the winter, but the one I pictured apparently does not. I appreciate your kind words, dear Gina, and pray the Lord's abundant blessings on your life in this new year 2016!!!!

  7. So many thoughts come to mind as I read your posts and see your photos-one is you must have really good snow tires to be trecking all over with those conditions, secondly I wonder if you are by Coeur d'Alene? I haven't seen much of Idaho, but love what I've seen. Hubby and I hope to get an RV in two years, so I'll probably get to explore then. Thanks so much for sharing with me and always encouraging us in the Lord.
    Blessings,
    Noreen

    1. Oh I'll be glad to answer your questions... we do use studded snow tires on our other vehicles that aren't 4x4, but on our 4x4 truck we have aggressive all season tires, and that gets us just about anywhere we need to go. And yes, we are not too far from CDA... it is a beautiful town! If you ever make a trek up this way, do let me know, as I can share with you some wonderful places to visit :) Sure do appreciate your friendship over this year, and pray the blessings of the Lord on you and your family in this new year :)

  10. Happy New Year to you, Marilyn!
I must say all that snow and your view is simply stunning!! I am a bit jealous...
Here on the plains, we haven't gotten much snow. Thankfully our mountains have! Sometimes I think we moved to the wrong part of the state. We are mountain people living on the plains... ;)
I hope you have a delightful week!

I know that you do get away to the mountains when you can though, and at least you are not so far from them that you can't get away to them! I do appreciate your visits here, and pray the most precious blessings of the Lord on you and your family! :)
