The Patchwork of Life

Saturday, February 13, 2016

I don't really have anything remarkable to share today... but just bits and pieces of life here {smiles}  ... a patchwork  of life, if you will :)

Frozen rime (fog) on pine needles early one chilly morning

Millions of crystals sparkling in the sunlight...

Shimmering frozen rime on the trees and bushes in amazing splendor...

New life coming forth... a friend of mine invited me over to see her new babies...

... and the beautiful momma, so protective of her little ones.

An wearied old barn set in the darkening skies of the afternoon...

Catnip for the sleepy orange tom cat who suddenly became quite vicious and silly as he played with it...

A walk in the woods with Annie...

A deer was silent as a statue in the darkness of the forest beyond... and Annie was quite intent ...

The sun setting on the distant hills...

Finding some very large footprints, Annie was shivering with excitement.  We suspect they belong to elk...

Sunshine spreading warmth to the gentle world of white...

Fences gently adorned in the shadowy sunlight

A quiet visitor in the backyard...

A new bird arrives to visit our bird feeder... have never seen this one before!

Magnificent is the word that comes to mind as I watch him gracefully flit among the branches...

... quickly eluding a clear view of himself, he flies off and I haven't seen him since....

... walking on ice with my yaktracks and chicken poo boots...

Annie's large paws never slip on the ice... how magnificent our Lord is to create animals who can adapt to all situations!

Views of the mountains that never, ever cease to amaze and thrill me.... I'm blessed with this view whenever I walk... the mountains are there, always the same, yet ever changing.

Annie's intent gaze on a small fawn with her momma seen just beyond the tree line.  Annie was sad, she was on a leash, and nothing to be done about it, but watch.

A precious package received in the mail as we finished our walk... could the day end any better? I think not!  The Lord knew my heart would rejoice to receive such love wrapped inside in a package!

Blessed, yes I am... simple things in life... all adding to the patchwork quilt of a day clothed in simple beauty and thankfulness for the blessings of the Lord!

  1. Thank you for taking me on your "walk" with you. :) I am missing the beauty of the snow here where it has been unseasonably warm. We even have our first snowdrop flowers blooming already. I fear that we will have a cold spell and it will kill off all the new buds that are beginning to come out way too early.

    1. I'm glad to "walk" with you too :) Yes, spring does seem to working its way here too. Our snow is gradually melting, little by little. I do hope that all the buds don't get frozen off either! Thank you for your visit :)

  3. Your Annie could be related to my Coffee---his mama was a white German Shepherd and his dad was a saddleback-regular German Shepherd. He has the same colorings as your Annie...she is beautiful.

I enjoyed your walk--beautiful...we have always wanted to live in Idaho...beautiful. Thanks for emailing me. Blessings

    1. Isn't that funny how our dogs look alike! Annie is actually part husky and German Shepherd, and she definitely has unique and beautiful features. In fact, her mother was a white German Shepherd and her father the husky. She has been a wonderful dog for us, we love her so much!

I'm glad you enjoyed the little walk... Idaho is an amazing place and not many people know about it... I enjoy sharing the beauty of life here, we are so blessed! Have a wonderful day Linda :)

  4. You should go into Tourism for Idaho!
If I didn't already live in and know how beautiful Idaho is, I'd move here in a minute.

    1. LOL, maybe I should. Although I believe beauty can be found wherever you live, you just have to look for it. Here in Idaho, you don't have to look, it is everywhere :) Thanks Christine for your sweet comments, they made my day! :)

    1. Thanks Nancy, you got it right! I looked it up, and sure enough that is what it is. I haven't seen it since either! It was only here for a minute or two. The bunnies are very sweet. I am thinking about getting one from her. We'll see. It will be 'Ole McDonald's farm here before long, lol!

  6. All I can say is WOW!!! What gorgeous photos. You are so blessed to live in such a wonderful place, you brought peace to my heart as I strolled along with you. You are so lucky to be surrounded by so much wildlife. That's the one thing I love about the mountains, the amount of wildlife that you see. The bird looks like it's a Magpie, I've seen them in Colorado. We don't have them here but they are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your walk.

    1. You know, we are really blessed to live here with the abundance of mountains, rivers, clouds and wildlife. I thank the Lord for it every day! Yes, you are right, the bird I saw is a magpie! So far you and several others knew just what it was! I had never seen one before, and it hasn't come back to visit either. I just thought its colors were very striking.

Hope you have had a blessed and wonderful day! :)

    1. I know those baby bunnies are just precious. I'm sure they've gotten even cuter in the last week since I've seen them... I just love new life coming forth! Some of my readers who commented thought the bird was a Eurasian magpie, and indeed that has to be what it is. Although the bird hasn't been back to visit, it was lovely having it for just a few minutes! :)
