Hurry Up - and Then Waiting...

Monday, November 25, 2024

Have you ever been there? It's safe to say that nearly everyone here has gone through this! Maybe you've been in a hurry to reach a doctor's appointment, but then had to sit and wait. and wait... and wait! It's hard to be patient when things need our attention. That's been the situation for the past few weeks.  You might recall that our new double-wide arrived on October 11, five days after our first grandchild was born! The home's progress has been exciting to watch, but also frustrating with the slow processes, especially as Winter approaches. We have been scurrying around trying to get all the things done that we possibly can while waiting for the crews to finish their work on our home so that we can move in. It feels like time is inching along as we enter the Thanksgiving season. I choose to be grateful we have our home though, and know that in time, we will get moved in!

Our amazing neighbors came over last weekend and helped us build the front porch. We left the railings off because it will be easier during move-in to have no railings while moving in furniture.

It took us all day to get this small deck built, but oh how we appreciated their help! Our neighbors needed a roof put on their pole barn some time ago, so we traded labor. It is wonderful to have such a great community of neighbors!

My Mom and sister came for a visit to meet our grandbaby! We had such a special visit with them both!

We had such beautiful Fall weather here in October/November while they were here.

While Mom was here, we had Thanksgiving dinner with her and all our kids. Mom made her special Deep Dish apple pie, and I made pumpkin pies using pumpkin grown in my garden. We had a feast! You might notice a piece taken out of the pie. Someone couldn't wait for the meal for a taste test, ha!

Mom made Danika a beautiful Cowgirl quilt! You can see it hanging on the edge of her bed. She embroidered each of the squares. It is a beautiful treasure!

I've spent as many hours with baby Danika that I can! She is such a precious little doll :) Words can't express how it feels to experience grandmotherhood!

I enjoyed an afternoon of cardmaking with my stamping friends. We have such a great time together! We made Christmas cards for our November meeting. I made the red card on the right. We each bring enough supplies for everyone to make our cards, and we make one of theirs. It is a lot of fun!

We enjoyed so many beautiful skies in October! Since November arrived, we have had mostly gray skies with lots of rain! We have gotten some snow here and there, but it has all melted. We are thankful for the rain so the soil can soak up the moisture before we get the winter freeze. We've had several winter storms come through, but so far, all the snow has melted.

This is Thanksgiving week, and we have SO much to be grateful for! We can choose to look at all the difficult things in our lives, and let those things bog us down in worry and fear. However, I like to look at all the wonderful things that the Lord has done, and it fills my heart with wonder and joy - because I know that life does not bring us ALL good things. Worries and fears can abound in our hearts for many different reasons. But, if we can take this season to be thankful for the things that are GOOD in our lives, as we focus on the good things, then we can have peace even in those hard seasons.

I've made a new video that I want to share with you, and if you haven't heard this song before, I think you'll enjoy it. It is called "I've Got So Much To Thank Him For"

To my American readers, Happy Thanksgiving to each of you - may your hearts and homes be full of love, laughter, joy, and thanksgiving for all the many blessings we enjoy! If you are not celebrating Thanksgiving in your country, may you pause and give Thanksgiving for all the good things you have been blessed with! Much love to you all!

  1. Dearest Marilyn,
Well, we plan in our head any renovation or remodeling but the reality often is a far cry from that plan.
Yes, it all will come together in the end and we practice patience!
Lovely family time with the new generation now for the first time.
Your Mom certainly put a lot of thought, love and time into that embroidered blanket for Danika.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

I agree...there is nothing like being a grandparent...we are new great grandparents and oh how much love we have for a newest baby. Glad you were able to share Thanksgiving with your mom and oh how those pies look so delicious. I've been missing your post, but I knew you had so very much going on. 3. A post full of love and happiness and I enjoyed every word. Your new home will be a haven of love for your sweet family to gather in and spend special days. The embroidered quilt your Mom made for little Danika is beautiful and will be a cherished heirloom. There are absolutely no words in the english language to express the love and absolute "everything" that you feel for a grandchild. They are definitely one of God's greatest gifts to us. Enjoy every moment.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  4. Your video with the music is absolutely beautiful, Marilyn. Yes, our blessings are more than we can ever count. We have so many reasons to thank our Lord for all He has done and will continue to do in our lives. That gorgeous quilt for little Danika will always be treasured by her. So wonderful that your mother and sister could visit with you, too. The house will be finished soon! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
