It is hard to believe it has been over a month since I've been able to sit down and create a blog post. 2024 was a whirlwind of a year, and the last month was especially crazy! The holidays are always busy, but it gets especially wild when you begin to move in the busiest season of the year. I am happy to report that we were able to celebrate our first Christmas in our new home!
A picture of our kitchen with some Christmas decor that I managed to get up just days before Christmas!
I have spent as much time as I can with our sweet grandbaby. She is just so precious!
I even managed to make some Paintbrush Christmas cookies with the kids this year! It was just days before Christmas as well, but we tucked that memory in our hearts as well! The recipe for these cookies can be found in my cookbook :)
We have had the mildest winter here! On this late winter afternoon, the sunlight dropped from the clouded skies and colored these evergreen pines with golden delight. What beauty the Lord creates for our hearts to enjoy!
We had a neighborhood Christmas party, and the spread of food was amazing! Don't you just love potluck gatherings where you can sample so many different kinds of food!
We've had a lot of cloudy days, with clear roads, while the fog and snow hug the mountains.
Our Christmas family picture (that was actually taken at Thanksgiving!)
We now have snow coating the trees and it is glorious! It is snowing again now as I write. Our weather is turning colder now too, so this snow will probably stay with us. December was such a mild month that no matter how much it snowed, it always melted.
Our New Year's Eve was very special, as our neighbors came to visit our home, and we had a housewarming party! I made an easy chili dinner and homemade sourdough bread while we visited, and we showed our neighbors our home. Then, we went to another neighbor's home to eat more snacks and visit. It was a wonderful evening. We are very blessed to have such wonderful neighbors!
On New Year's Eve, we finally got some snow that lasted long enough to take this picture! This is the picture of our new home. The roof our old mobile home is under will become my husband's new shop this spring. That is our project for the upcoming year!
I hope each of you had a special Christmas and New Year holiday season with memories tucked away in your heart for another year. It is hard to believe we are now in 2025, and looking forward to what 2025 holds for us, and what a year 2024 was! I can't say I'm sorry to say goodbye to 2024, and my heart anticipates what 2025 will bring. How about you?
Sharing a video I made some time ago as I think about how wonderful our GOD is to us, with all the many blessings He brings us each and every day. Whatever the future may hold, we walk into it knowing He is with us!
Blessings to each of you in this new year of 2025!
It is so nice to catch up and see how things are going with you. Your new home is lovely. You must be delighted! That baby is so precious! What a joy! God bless you and your family!
How nice to see a bit of your new home and I really like your kitchen, especially the island. It looks as though you made some lovely holiday memories with your family and friends. That's the best of all to be able to look back on. I pray that the new year brings many blessings to you and your family. Blessings and hugs, Betsy
your new kitchen is so very pretty and cosy looking! What a sweet granddaughter! You look so happy holding her and I love your family pic too. I'm ready to stop all baked goods and the treats and detox my body from all the sugar! That's the first thing Im working on for 2025. God is so good.....I look forward to what He has in store for me and my family in 2025.
Hooray! I was hoping to get glimpses of your new home and the joy of being in it, too. What a wonderful family photo from Thanksgiving. How nice that you could open up your new place for a housewarming with neighbors. That's a great island area in your new kitchen. I'm sure you've used it a lot already! A very blessed 2025 to you and yours!
Happy New Year! I'm so happy for you to have been able to be in your new home by Christmas! JOY! Your family is beautiful, and it's growing. Very sweet! Deanna Rabe
Happy New Year! What a wonderful new home you have and in time for Christmas celebration. I remember when I was a working woman, I'd make painted cookies for gifts and even though my art skill is slim, everyone seemed impressed. That sweet baby is growing already. Hold her tight and kiss her often.
Marilyn, you must be thrilled to be in your new home. I love seeing pictures of your area, and thank you for always including these very special nature pictures with us. It is an important part of who I am, and I appreciate that you spend so much time there yourself. The dusting of snow on the trees and the mountains in the distance and the sun setting over the evergreen pines is beautiful. And I LOVE this black and white photo of the family. I first learned to develop black and whites in the dark room, and it was a thrill to see them come alive. Your smiles are all sweet, and your grandbaby is precious. All the food looks delicious too. I hope this new year brings so much goodness in your life, Marilyn. And thank you for your blog friendship all these years.
Happy New Year, Marilyn! Your new home is lovely and that kitchen is just gorgeous. I'm so glad you were able to be settled enough to have a little holiday celebration in it! I hope the snow lasts for you, I know how much you love it. Funny, we had a white Christmas this year and the snow stuck around for quite a while...I think more is coming this week. Brrr...you know me, I'm more fond of summer, but snow is better than rain and if it's got to be winter, it may as well be pretty!! Enjoy your new home and that baby!!
Glad that you and your family are well, just busy. :) Love that gold on the trees!!! Just beautiful! How wonderful to have nice neighbors-such a blessing. And what a beautiful family picture! Congratulations on your new home! 2024 was challenging in a lot of ways and I sense 2025 might be even more so, as my siblings seek their journeys. But I'm so grateful to God for His provision and care, and the lessons I've learned, and am still learning. May God bless and keep you all, Marilyn! Love in Christ, Valentine
Congrats on getting into your new home, lovely family photo. We are getting our second snow storm of the year tonight and it will be cold after so they tell us it will be around for awhile. wishing you a lovely 2025!
Hello Marilyn! I was so happy to see your new home, and that gorgeous white kitchen! Oh how fun! How wonderful you managed to get moved in prior to Christmas! And you still managed to have get-togethers and lots of food and friends, and family! I loved your Christmas card with the black and white photo....... gorgeous photo! I bet you are over the moon with your new grandbaby... she looks just precious and already growing! You surely do have a bounty of blessings up in your corner of the world! I bet it was nice to have a milder winter so far, but also nice to see some snow layered over those gorgeous fir trees. Where I live, it's all rain! but I keep telling myself I'm glad it's just rain and not snow! I may change my mind one of these days, but not yet! Hugs.. Marilyn
