After my last post, where I lamented the lack of winter that we've had, I believe the Lord heard my prayers {smiles}. We have had several rounds of snow ever since I posted that! We needed it so badly! I know many are disheartened by its late arrival, but come August, we will be so very thankful for this badly needed snow that we've gotten! Riley and I are beside ourselves with joy! Unfortunately, it is too wet and sticky to ski in, and most of it melts by the end of the day - even so, early in the mornings, we get to walk and enjoy it!
The glistening snow against the backdrop of blue skies is an experience that I never tire of!
Yes. My heart is full. Can you tell? Look at all that fluffy goodness!
There is a special joy in walking in freshly fallen snow...
Our neighbor's beautiful home is covered in snow.
Riley loves to sniff around as we walk. Snow is her very favorite!
Just a hint of blue on the horizon...
The clouds are passing, and the sun is making its entrance...
Our little home under its loving cover of snow...
The girls came over this week, and we made 6 batches of low-sugar homemade jam. Of course, I also made sourdough bread to test the jam with :) It was all so good!
Huckleberry jam! We made it with low-sugar pectin. It was delicious!
We have more snow arriving today, so Riley and I will get to enjoy the snow for a little longer. What a great start to the week!
Our daughter celebrates her 30th birthday tomorrow - she is a St. Patrick's baby! I can't even believe that 30 years ago today, I was in labor for her! We have plans to celebrate with a bit of shopping and lunch tomorrow. Oh, what fun! In the past, it has been our tradition to go shop at thrift stores and then have lunch together. This time we will have both girls and grandgirls. There are some fun thrift stores in Coeur d'Alene that we like to visit. I'm sure we will all wear green :) Do you have St. Patrick's Day plans?
While it doesn't look much like spring out there today, we know that Spring officially arrives on Saturday. Now that we've had a bit of winter, I will be ready for spring! How about you?
Enjoy this short video of Riley and I walking together. Spring will come. But for now, I am still loving winter! Blessings to all of you!
Isaiah 61:11
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud,
and as the garden causeth the things
that is sown in it to spring forth;
so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise
to spring forth before all the nations.
My favorite Spring verse in the Bible! We can look forward to Spring knowing that someday soon, as Spring is our promise, the LORD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations. I am looking forward to that day!
I'm glad you are enjoying your winter! Your pictures are all so gorgeous! I hope we don't get anymore snow but you never know in March! Apparently they are getting a 3 day snow storm in northern Michigan right now! Have a blessed week fun with your girls!
I love all your snow pictures!! I have not forgotten the crunch of boots in snow although we don't get much most years. Happy 30th birthday to your daughter. It will be our youngest granddaughter's 23rd birthday and my niece's 14th 💚💚
So happy that you finally got that snow you needed, Marilyn! Your photos capture the magic and beauty wonderfully. Happy Birthday to Danielle, too! Enjoy your time together as you celebrate. Blessings!
It is lovely!!!! WOW!!!! I miss my walks in the snow. We used to live up north where snow was prevelant and now in the deep south where I live.... uh... nope!! :) Happy Birthday to your daughter. I hope you all have a lovely week.
We've had more snow than usual this year and so I would have been disheartened to have gotten more snow! But I know it's so good for your snow pack, and water levels! It is beautiful and those blue skies with the snow are amazing!
Oh Marilyn, it makes my heart sing to see your snow pictures! And they really are wonderful photos. I am one who always misses the winter when the season is over, and although we've had sunny days all last week, I'm not sure winter is over with us either. We may get more rain. Happy Birthday to your daughter, and what fun ya'll will have hitting all the thrift stores. I love them too. Huckleberry Jam! Oh my, that sounds delicious on a piece of toast with melted butter. And low sugar is even better. Your words, "Spring will come. But for now, I am still loving winter!".....Thank you for being one of those people who loves this wonderful season. I haven't found too many who appreciate it. ; ) Your pictures are brilliant, by the way.
