After my last post, where I lamented the lack of winter that we've had, I believe the Lord heard my prayers {smiles}. We have had several rounds of snow ever since I posted that! We needed it so badly! I know many are disheartened by its late arrival, but come August, we will be so very thankful for this badly needed snow that we've gotten! Riley and I are beside ourselves with joy! Unfortunately, it is too wet and sticky to ski in, and most of it melts by the end of the day - even so, early in the mornings, we get to walk and enjoy it!
The glistening snow against the backdrop of blue skies is an experience that I never tire of!
Yes. My heart is full. Can you tell? Look at all that fluffy goodness!
There is a special joy in walking in freshly fallen snow...
Our neighbor's beautiful home is covered in snow.
Riley loves to sniff around as we walk. Snow is her very favorite!
Just a hint of blue on the horizon...
The clouds are passing, and the sun is making its entrance...
Our little home under its loving cover of snow...
The girls came over this week, and we made 6 batches of low-sugar homemade jam. Of course, I also made sourdough bread to test the jam with :) It was all so good!
Huckleberry jam! We made it with low-sugar pectin. It was delicious!
We have more snow arriving today, so Riley and I will get to enjoy the snow for a little longer. What a great start to the week!
Our daughter celebrates her 30th birthday tomorrow - she is a St. Patrick's baby! I can't even believe that 30 years ago today, I was in labor for her! We have plans to celebrate with a bit of shopping and lunch tomorrow. Oh, what fun! In the past, it has been our tradition to go shop at thrift stores and then have lunch together. This time we will have both girls and grandgirls. There are some fun thrift stores in Coeur d'Alene that we like to visit. I'm sure we will all wear green :) Do you have St. Patrick's Day plans?
While it doesn't look much like spring out there today, we know that Spring officially arrives on Saturday. Now that we've had a bit of winter, I will be ready for spring! How about you?
Enjoy this short video of Riley and I walking together. Spring will come. But for now, I am still loving winter! Blessings to all of you!
Isaiah 61:11
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud,
and as the garden causeth the things
that is sown in it to spring forth;
so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise
to spring forth before all the nations.
My favorite Spring verse in the Bible! We can look forward to Spring knowing that someday soon, as Spring is our promise, the LORD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations. I am looking forward to that day!
I'm glad you are enjoying your winter! Your pictures are all so gorgeous! I hope we don't get anymore snow but you never know in March! Apparently they are getting a 3 day snow storm in northern Michigan right now! Have a blessed week fun with your girls!
Yes, March is a silly month, all over the place. By April, things start to settle down, and spring feels like reality. For now, I am enjoying the snow! Blessings to you, and thank you for your faithful visits!
I love all your snow pictures!! I have not forgotten the crunch of boots in snow although we don't get much most years. Happy 30th birthday to your daughter. It will be our youngest granddaughter's 23rd birthday and my niece's 14th 💚💚
I'm glad you enjoy the snow pictures, they make me smile too! Thank you for the birthday wishes, and birthday wishes to your granddaughter and niece! How exciting! Blessings to you!
So happy that you finally got that snow you needed, Marilyn! Your photos capture the magic and beauty wonderfully. Happy Birthday to Danielle, too! Enjoy your time together as you celebrate. Blessings!
Thank you sweet friend, we are grateful for all the blessings of the Lord! He is so good and gracious to us. I appreciate your faithful friendship, and visits! Many blessings to you!
It is lovely!!!! WOW!!!! I miss my walks in the snow. We used to live up north where snow was prevelant and now in the deep south where I live.... uh... nope!! :) Happy Birthday to your daughter. I hope you all have a lovely week.
I would miss the snow too! There are blessings to living in the south, but I am so thankful for the four seasons here. Thank you for the birthday blessings! Praying you have a blessed week too!
We've had more snow than usual this year and so I would have been disheartened to have gotten more snow! But I know it's so good for your snow pack, and water levels! It is beautiful and those blue skies with the snow are amazing!
I know, there have been years where we got more than our fair share of winter, but not this year. So thankful for the little snow we are getting, for the extra moisture. Always love seeing the blue skies against the white backdrop, so beautiful to see! Many blessings to you!
Oh Marilyn, it makes my heart sing to see your snow pictures! And they really are wonderful photos. I am one who always misses the winter when the season is over, and although we've had sunny days all last week, I'm not sure winter is over with us either. We may get more rain. Happy Birthday to your daughter, and what fun ya'll will have hitting all the thrift stores. I love them too. Huckleberry Jam! Oh my, that sounds delicious on a piece of toast with melted butter. And low sugar is even better. Your words, "Spring will come. But for now, I am still loving winter!".....Thank you for being one of those people who loves this wonderful season. I haven't found too many who appreciate it. ; ) Your pictures are brilliant, by the way.
Yes, you and I share a deep love for winter, don't we! Among many other things! We love the mountains, our families, and the Lord. God's blessings to draw our hearts into fellowship! Yes, we will have fun with the thrift stores and enjoying a day out in town. Yes, spring will come, it always does. But I have learned to love whatever God brings us for weather. He supplies all we need. Many blessings to you dear friend!
Well here in NYS (at least in eastern NY) we are all done with the snow. We hope. We had a LONG real winter and although I'm glad we did, I'm also glad to see my tulip greens shooting up through the mud, and see the rain this morning falling gently vs snow. But I'm also glad that you all out there finally have some snow! I absolutely love your photos of course, as usual, and my fave is the third one down.
Happy Birthday to your daughter!! 30 years ago today, I was in my first year of being a stay at home mom to my then 2.5 yr old girl. I had gone back to my special ed prek classroom the day she turned 1 and last one year. I so wanted her out of daycare and to be home with her. I don't regret it! (and yes, I went back to teaching eventually :) ). She is now 32 and youngest is 27, and like you, we have our birthday traditions. I love that you all are getting together with the babies, too!
St Patrick's Day. I bought my husband some pastrami (I don't eat beef or pork) for his lunch and he has plans to grab a salad on his way to his mens Bible study tomorrow. I host my small group in my home and since we meet on Tuesdays while dave is at the mens study at church, I might go to the bakery and pick up some fun st patrick's day cookies. We have a bakery that does them up i the green and white colors. I hope you enjoy every minute with your girls!!
Hopefully you do get springtime weather there soon, I know the east coast probably got a lot of the snow that we usually get! I'm amazed at how close in age our children are! I stayed home with my children too, and never regret that choice! Have a fun St. Patrick's Day, your plans sound wonderful! Blessings to you!
Hooray for more snow and the joy it brings to you and Riley. It was a surprise to see snow on Monday morning. It is all gone now. Enjoy your St. Patrick's girl and your shopping trip today!! Happiest of birthdays to her. Thanks for your favorite Spring Verse. I'm going to share it on Friday, our granddaughter's birthday and the first day of Spring! Blessings!
Happy Birthday to your sweet daughter!! Enjoy your day out together. Your photos are amazing. I just love how you captured the sky. We survived the mid-west blizzard. We received 15 inches of snow. The clean up has gone well. And by Friday it is to be 50 degrees. ;-)
Beautiful photos, Marilyn! My lungs don't like the winter cold, but I am thankful for the much needed moisture and nutrients of snow. Love and blessings of our Lord washing us whiter than the snow!
Absolutely lovely!!!! It looks so peaceful and beautiful-God's Wonderland. :) Happy 30th to Danielle! Hope it's a great day! Thank you for sharing that beautiful verse with us, Marilyn. What a day to look forward to!!!! Many blessings, Valentine P.S. I forgot to mention that I'm not able to review on Amazon at this time because I didn't meet the spending requirements for several months. But I did review the books on Goodreads. :)
Dear Marilyn, your snow ❄️ photos are absolutely gorgeous. So lovely. Here in Montreal we have been getting high winds and snow is coming as well. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
