Tea Time and Prayer with a Prayer Journal

Let all those that seek thee
rejoice and be glad in thee:
let such as love thy salvation say continually,
The Lord be magnified.
Psalms 40:16

Recently I was thinking how important it is for ladies to gather together to visit, share, and uplift each other.  It has been a wonderful thing for me in "blogland" to meet other precious ladies who love the Lord, who glorify Him in their daily lives and who write about it too.  There is just something special that happens when ladies come together either online in the blogging format... or who meet for an hour or two to share what is happening in their lives, their blessings, their prayer needs, and the encouragement that comes from sharing life events with other ladies.

And after participating in Stephanie's tea cup exchange... and blogging about it here I realized just how wonderful it was to connect with other special ladies around the world over a cyber cup of "tea".

And just as wonderful... tea with a few friends!  So a few weeks ago I paired up some special things ... food, tea, and prayer... and gathered with a few friends in my living room to share our lives over a cup of tea, and then to pray together.  It was such a blessed time that we all decided we needed to do it again... and again ... and now we have a permanent date on the calendar!

Every Wednesday, Lord willing, I will be hosting a tea/prayer time at my home around 10:00 a.m. (or so).  For the past several Wednesdays, several friends have come over for tea, and light snacks while we shared things about our week that were encouraging or discouraging, and also any prayer requests that needed to be made known, and then we prayed together.  What a joyous blessed time it has been!

This past weekend I was thinking about the need to keep track of our prayer and praise reports.   I had an idea to create a prayer journal to record the things we were praying about, and the prayers that the Lord was answering.

I designed a special Prayer Journal this morning to use at our weekly tea and prayer gathering on Wednesday.

It was quite simple to make, and any little journal could be adapted into a prayer/praise journal.

It is a beautiful way to record both prayer requests, and praise reports, and to keep as a memorial for all of us to look back and see how the Lord has blessed and kept us through the seasons of life.

My little prayer/praise journal consists of two tablets that can be easily changed out once full, and they are labeled praise and prayer.

The tablets are tucked into pockets which can hold little mementos too.

A peek at the prayer journal laid open.

I love this verse in Isaiah 40:31
They that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.

Your prayer journal doesn't have to be fancy, it can be a simple journal... and it can be a private one, or a public one, as in this case.  But the important thing is that you are journaling and recording just how the Lord answers prayer through time.

I encourage each and every lady that has the home and time available to see if there are other ladies in your circle of friends who would like to be encouraged over a cup of tea.  I can assure you, it will be a blessed time!

After all... we need one another... and a cozy tea and prayer time may just be the thing to bring you and your friends closer to the Lord.  May we all seek after the Lord even as the psalmist David did who wrote "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."  Psalms 42:1

A cup of hot tea, a cozy setting with friends, and a time of encouragement and sharing, and then time for prayer... has made Wednesdays a cherished day of the week for us!

Tea time and prayer... a lovely combination!  May we all pray this precious prayer for each other found in Ephesians 1:16: 15-19

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus,
and your love unto all the saints,
Cease not to give thanks for you,
making mention of you in my prayers,
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of glory,
may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him;
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
that ye may know what is the hope of his calling,
and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty power."

Amen!

PS:  For those who may want to know how to make this prayer journal, it is quite simple, and just a few "scrapbooking" tools are helpful, such as a paper cutter, and Aleen's glue.

I used a 12 x 12" sheet of heavy solid colored cardstock, and cut it to 12 x 8.5".  I then used the long piece cut off that measures 3.5 x 12" and put glue on the three outside edges to create pockets.  This is where you can place your writing tablets.  The tablets I used measure 8 x 5".

The next step is to decorate as desired.  I used another 12 x 12" piece of decorative scrapbooking paper and cut 2 pieces measuring 8 x 5.5", and glued them on the front and back of the folder.  Then add your pieces of decor as desired.  That's it!  Really quite simple, and a fabulous way to have a little folder pocket for keeping anything of importance.  Besides being a journal, these little pocket folder/holders could be used to hold recipes, coupons, mementos, grocery lists, or be your - "go to" little notebook where you can jot notes to yourself and keep it in your purse or on your desk.  Get creative, and see what you can use it for ... and may the Lord bless and keep you!    :)

PSS: If anyone is wondering where I got my darling tea cup holder seen in some of the above pictures, you can find it in Stephanie's Etsy Store here... she has an amazing array of darling handmade items!  :)

  5. Oh, how precious! This is just wonderful. I love the prayer journal. You are SO creative and have such a dear way about you. And the time with your dear friends is just a treasure! What a blessing it will be, too, when you can all look back over these recorded entries in your journal and SEE in black and white what God has done for all of you. We need one another, especially, as we edge ever closer to the end of time. Things are so dark, and we must navigate ourselves toward the light of God's Word and the light that blesses us as we congregate together in fellowship and unity. I, too am so grateful for all of the wonderful, dear friends God has brought across my path over the past few years blogging. I would never have met YOU and so many others, had He not opened the blogging path to us. What a dear blessing it has been and continues to be! I trust He will continue to pour out His richest blessings upon you and your friends as you gather together in His name. He will be in the midst!! Sending you much love and many hugs across the miles. I am SO thankful for you!!!

    1. Oh Cheryl, your words touch my heart, and I echo them back to you - so thankful for YOU too! What a joy blogging has done to bring such wonderful friends into my life! I appreciate your kind words so much, and wish ever so much that you could join us one day too... but I want to encourage all ladies that if you have a friend or two, this could be something you could do. I've been so blessed by this time of prayer and fellowship already, and a cup of tea and little goodies to munch on are just the icing on the cake :) And we've already seen one prayer request answered that was voiced last week at our gathering - it is so wonderful to know that we can see in black and white just what the Lord is doing! Praying that the Lord will continue to bless you, dear friend, and that His presence will comfort and surround you with His goodness. Much love across the miles :)

  6. 1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." The Lord instructs us to do exactly what you have shared here. Last night I was with 12 other women for a Bible study in the home of the study leader. What a blessed time we had. Young and old together in one room, reading, studying, learning, sharing. I'm certain the Lord was smiling as He watched us. Lovely post. xo

There is really something special that takes place in our hearts, I think, when we are able to share, encourage, and pray for and with one another. I'm certain the Lord was smiling too! May the Lord continue to bless your gathering together! Appreciate your visit Nancy :)

    1. Indeed, it is wonderful to have ladies who like to pray... and drink tea! {smile} It sounds as if you may not have that opportunity, (to meet with other like minded ladies). I will certainly be praying that the Lord sends you someone to drink tea with and pray. He can! Have a blessed and beautiful day dear Anne :)

It is wonderful to have the prayer journal as a reminder of what we are praying for, and how the Lord is answering, and of course shared over a cup of hot tea, makes it even more special. Hope you are recovering, dear Terri! What a challenge this has been for you, yet you have such a sweet spirit about it all. Praying for you!

  11. I like the prayer journal you constructed, I have a notebook from Michael's that I use. Coincidentally the scripture of Isaiah 41:30 was the topic at the women's bible study group I attend Tuesday mornings - and we start with tea and muffins.

  13. Oh, what a lovely idea to gather for tea and prayer!!! I use a prayer journal consistently in my personal prayer time and have for many years. Your prayer journal is so sweet. Mine is more utilitarian, I guess you'd say, but it's a wonderful tool indeed. Interestingly, out of all the posts on my blog, the most popular ever has been a post on using a prayer journal. I hope that means that many ladies are using one!
