Our calendar officially says it is spring, and most certainly the days are getting longer, and the sunshine is warmer too! Our snow is melting, and more and more ground is becoming visible. I still have some snow in my garden, but now... tulips, crocuses, and daffodils are working their way through the ground, and soon we will have beautiful blooms from bulbs that were planted in faith last fall.
Crocuses making their way through the soil to share their beautiful purple blooms!
On March 21, the day after the first day of spring... this is the weather that showed up :) You just never know about spring and winter... they have lots of surprises for us every day! Thankfully, the snow did melt quickly, and all of our snow on the ground continues to melt every day.
Danielle and I always celebrate her birthday in the spring by going for a "girl's day out" together. We get coffee, visit a few thrift stores, and have lunch together. It is a wonderful way to celebrate our birthdays together :)
Later in the week, Zak and Danielle came over and I cooked a special birthday dinner for her. Her special request was Lasagna and Brownie Pudding. I was happy to oblige!
In early spring, the male turkeys begin to court the ladies once again. You can see how the ground squirrels had fun underground all winter long in this picture. Everyone's lawn and yard this time of year have all these tunnels running through them. We have lots of interesting animals around here, both above and below ground!
Our daughter-in-love to be wanted to make dinner for us last night. She made homemade chicken pot pie and for dessert, amaretto cheesecake... oh my goodness, it was all so good! And the sweetest thing was that she cooked it all for us to enjoy and have enough leftover for another meal.
After dinner, the sunset was so beautiful with lovely golden light, so I captured some beautiful pictures of them together.
The sunset was a beautiful backdrop for this precious couple we love so much :)
I hope you're enjoying all of the sweet joys of springtime in your world as well. I will leave you with a worship medley video that I put together recently that I hope will bless your hearts with pictures of springtime to enjoy :)
Marilyn, that chicken pot pie looks delicious! And the amaretto cheesecake sounds Yummy. Happy Birthday to both you and your daughter. The photos of the sunset and the lovely couple are just gorgeous. Oh, I used to see the turkeys all the time in my old town, but don't see them in the mountains here. They are so funny to watch. The Crocuses are going to look so pretty when they bloom. You know, that's my favorite color!
Happy Spring, Marilyn. May all the goodness of the season come to you and bring you joy.
What a lovely spring you're having so far!! That chicken pot pie looks absolutely amazing...and cheesecake? That is my weakness! I think I could eat both pies all by myself. It might take me a week to do so, but they look and sound THAT good!! Enjoy the weekend!
Hello Marilyn, What lovely relationships you have with your children and their spouses. You are a blessed woman. I make homemade chicken pot pie but mine doesn't look anywhere as delicious as your dil's. So sweet of her. And your photos of the kids with the sunsets are amazing. You are a very talented lady and they look very much in love. Blessings and hugs, Betsy
At least someone is getting Spring! I woke up to snow this morning and it's getting colder as the week goes on! Oh well, hopefully this will be the end of it! What a nice way to celebrate your and your daughter's birthdays! I love the pictures of your son and his fiancé! You can surely see the love on their faces.
Happy Belated Birthday, Marilyn and Danielle! I did enjoy the music video and the other photos you shared here. Chicken pot pie is a perennial favorite of mine, so I would have loved to taste this one and the amaretto cheesecake, too. Blessings!
This was all so sweet. I love that you and your daughter do special things together like shopping and eating out. My mother and I used to do that many years ago. We went to antique/thrift type stores and shopped for old books and anything that we fancied. Then we'd go somewhere and get a hot fudge sundae. I miss those times so much. You are blessed to be able to do them. And that chicken pot pie from your DIL looks WONDERFUL. and what a sweet sweet couple. You are blessed to have your children near. Thank you for sharing these lovely times with us. Happy Spring indeed!
Oh Marilyn.. I'm glad Spring is slowly coming your way! You are SO fortunate to live so close to your children and their loved ones too. How neat to be able to share dinners and special occasions. Your photos of your son and his fiance are just so touching... wow wow wow. Even with the ground so covered up and saturated, those little crocus still manage to come up! it's quite a miracle... hugs.. Marilyn
Isn't it fun to have a DIL make something special just for you? Looks like you have had a few birthdays to enjoy together. That is wonderful. I hope you have a blessed Sunday. xo Diana
ooh...we LOVE chicken pot pie...being mostly plant based though, we now use a substitute but there's nothing like a real chicken pot pie!! how thoughtful of your future diL to make it for you. And their pics look like something out of a romance film :)
Dear Marilyn, your love of God, family, and life, shines so brightly, through your photographs, words, and music, I was so blessed, thank you for sharing. Sue

Happy Birthday to the both of you. Your video is beautiful -- wonderful music and photos. I especially loved seeing the lilacs -- my favorite flower. I can almost smell their scent. Glad you're surrounded by family and love. Hugs.
