Announcing 2 Cookbook Winners!

Monday, April 29, 2024

Hello dear friends! A big thank you to everyone who entered my cookbook giveaway. I just read through each of your comments, and each one is such a blessing to me! I really wish I could give each and every one of you a copy of my cookbook!!

Today is the day I am giving away a paperback copy, and a Kindle copy of my cookbook.

I am very excited to announce the two winners!

Without further ado, here are the two ladies who have won a copy of my cookbook!

Lynn and Precious who blog here:    won the paperback copy of my book!

Baili who blogs here won the Kindle version of my book!

Congratulations to you both!

Lynn and Baili - I will be emailing you both, letting you know, and making arrangements for the delivery of the cookbooks.

For those of you who would still like a chance at winning my cookbook, please stop by my Instagram page, as I am also doing a giveaway there, and it will end on Wednesday, May 1st, so you still have time to enter if you haven't already! Here is a link to my Instagram page. Leave a comment on that page, and I will post two winners on Wednesday.

~ ~ ~

Bandit has settled happily into our home.
His favorite thing to do is climb!

Bandit loves to help me with my morning devotions :)

I tried a different kind of noodle one evening. They were actually really good, my husband approved, which is saying a lot. I made a shrimp butter sauce and tossed the noodles in. Yummy!

This was the brand of noodles I used.

We had some VERY low temperatures come through, and it got down into the low 20s.
Even with the heat on in my greenhouse, there was damage to my seedlings. It is quite a setback. This has been an unusual year, and as a gardener, I've learned to just accept what comes. God always provides plenty of harvest in the end.

Even my cold hardy plants like lettuce and radish were affected.

Dan and I took a quad ride up into the mountains. It was a beautiful day, with lots of sunshine and a brisk breeze. The views were spectacular!

The mountains are still covered in snow. This is a good thing.  The tops of the mountains typically don't lose their snow until May or June.  This provides extra moisture for the valleys through our hot and dry summers.

After our quad ride, we had a bonfire with hot dogs and keto tortillas - it was the perfect ending to our day!

The April Pink Moon was amazing to see!

The robins love my bird bath in the garden, I keep it filled for them.
They are so entertaining to watch!

I've been busy out in the garden, cleaning the chicken coop, and spreading compost and manure, getting ready for planting season. With the weather being so unusual this year, I definitely will be waiting until June to plant. Our last frost date typically falls during the first week of June. I've found it's best to not get in a hurry, as plants don't do well if the ground isn't quite warm enough.

Today, we had a skiff of snow as a thunderstorm rolled through. Spring has been quite a roller coaster ride this year - but it's best to just take every day and enjoy it - live thankfully! Finding gratitude in my heart for the little things makes life worth living!

Thank you again to all who have ordered my book, and I appreciate your support of a dream I've always had to publish my own cookbook.  If you have purchased my cookbook, a review on Amazon here would be much appreciated.  :)

Enjoy my latest video of Charity Gayle with one hour of live worship, where I've shared some pictures of northern Canada in this video from a family trip we took to Banff in 2016. May the blessings of the Lord be rich in your life today - we have much to rejoice about. God has been good to us!

    1. We have had the same difficult weather here too, with very low temperatures, down to the low 20s on May 1st. Not the greatest weather for springtime blooms!

  2. Marilyn, I was so happily surprised about winning your book! We had 28 degrees here on Thursday April 25 with thick ice on the bird baths and it really did a number on my mulberry trees. But since Sunday 28th, we have been in the 80's! It is an unbelievable weather change. But there is always something to rejoice for. Here it is the migrating birds coming back and the nesting and singing. I know you will have a wonderful garden once again given the right time. Lynn and Precious

    1. I'm so thankful you were a winner of my book Lynn! We have had very low temps here, down to low 20s on May 1st, which is quite late for that kind of temperature. Soon though, it will warm up, looks like this weekend will be in the 70s, which will be wonderful! Many blessings to you both!

  7. Congrats to the winners! You are so sweet to give away some of your books! The quad ride into the mountains looks so beautiful. You are so fortunate to have a hubby to do things with and go places with you (and have bonfire cookouts!). I'm sorry you've had that late frost.. and probably more to come! It's hard not to get in a hurry. Even here in Astoria, where it is considered "mild"... they had a frost at the nursery last week, so they moved many things inside their big tent, that are not frost tolerant. I was amazed to see that the frosts come here too, as late as the end of April.
I have planted a few flowers in pots and just got 25 strawberries to put in, maybe next week. I think I'm only doing strawberries. Don't have much room but have two 3x6 foot cedar planters, so strawberries in one, and probably flowers in the other.
That pink moon was gorgeous! My sister saw it too in Terrebonne (central Oregon). I forgot to look here!
Don't work too hard with all that cleaning and shoveling, etc. You've got to preserve your back for the summer gardening fun!
    Hugs... Marilyn

    1. Oh we do love our mountain rides, Marilyn! It's our favorite thing to do :) We had extremely low temps again on May 1, down to low 20s. It has been an interesting spring for sure! Strawberries sound like a wonderful addition to your garden space! They really do well in acidic northern climates. It is a fun time of year - and I might say, for you as well, try not to overdo things, in all the excitement - it is hard advice to listen to, for sure!

  8. Congratulations to the winners of your cookbook, Marilyn! It will be such a blessing, I'm sure. As Danny is going into the hospital for a heart ablation, I would love your prayers for healing and successful surgery by his doctor and attending nurses. He is the mainstay chef in our household, and such an amazing husband and father, I just might order your book for Fathers' Day.
    Blessings to you and yours!

  15. Bummer about your plants, I planted tomato, beans and peppers and everything is coming up but the peppers, don't know if they take longer than the others or what, hubby says I should just go out and by at least one pepper plant just in case the seeds don't come up.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Peppers are VERY slow growing plants! So they will take longer, and they need a lot of heat to do well. Hopefully they have come up for you by now! Also, I find that planting seeds inside gives everything a head start. In my garden, the robins gobble up any seeds I plant in the ground, so it forces me to start seeds inside. Gives them a bit of a head start. I hope you have a wonderful harvest from your efforts!

We are having up and down temps too. It is very difficult on the plants. Today we are 75 degrees, and by Wednesday evening we will be a low of 35!!!
