COOKBOOK GIVEAWAY!

It has been a delightful adventure getting my cookbook published. I'm grateful to all of you who have expressed interest in my simple homegrown recipes! My passion for cooking, which began in childhood while assisting my mother in the kitchen, inspired the creation of this cookbook. Our parents kept a large garden, and we ate from the garden that supplied a plenteous supply of vegetables for our large family, friends, and neighbors. My dream was to compile a cookbook that showcases the various ways I incorporate homegrown vegetables and fruits into our family meals.

Today, I want to give away 2 copies of my book to my precious readers! I will be giving away a paperback copy, and a Kindle copy.

Amazon will not print this book in color in countries outside United States, so I will be giving away a paperback, and a Kindle copy.  If you live outside the USA, please indicate you want a Kindle version.

All you have to do is leave a comment below if you are interested, and let me know whether you would like a paperback or Kindle copy.  That's it! Of course, I would love it if you could share the word about my cookbook with your friends and family, that would be appreciated so much!

You can look at the first ten pages of the cookbook on Amazon by clicking this link

ECLIPSE BANDIT

Yes, you read the above heading right - we had a little "Bandit" visit us on April 8, the day of the total solar eclipse.  Some people were giving away free kittens, and my husband just picked one up to hold it.  The kitten had a diarrhea accident all over him. The owners picked up their sign, hopped in their car, and drove away, leaving my husband holding this wee little one! He had no other choice than to bring him home. We asked around to several different families to see if they were interested - and no one was! By this time, he had wiggled his way into our hearts and we decided to keep him.

Bandit is so tiny and has stolen our hearts, the little Bandit that he is! Our two resident cats did not approve, not a bit! But he is just as sweet as can be, and today Big Boy Smoky was playing with him. Little Girl Ash still remains aloof and quite unhappy with the whole arrangement. Hopefully, a good rhythm and balance will return to our home soon. Little ones upset everything - but we love him so much already!

We are finally starting to see some color in the world around us - daffodils are poking their heads up out of the cold earth, and warming our hearts!

A spectacular Spring sunset - we are loving the longer days, and more outdoor time!

SANDPOINT, IDAHO

I had to go to Sandpoint this week, and it was such a beautiful day. Riley and I went for a walk in the park. The wind was cold, but the sunshine was glorious!

We sat on the park bench enjoying the views. I enjoyed the water view, but Riley was more interested in the squirrels talking "trash" to her!

There is still snow on the mountains above us - but the trees are starting to leaf out - Spring is indeed feeling stronger every day!

I never tire of the views that we are treated to here in North Idaho!

Food for my soul - glorious beauty!

MY AUTHOR COPY ARRIVES!

I was just about to eat lunch when my author copy of my cookbook came. I enjoyed my smoked salmon salad lunch as I read my cookbook - it was so exciting to finally hold it in my hands!

***

So be sure and leave a comment below and let me know whether you want a Kindle or paperback version.  I will leave the contest open for 2 weeks, I will draw the winners on April 29 - so be sure and tell your friends and family :)

Here is the link again if  you'd like to view the cookbook on Amazon: MOUNTAINTOPSPICE FAMILY COOKBOOK

Today, I'd like to leave you with a video I made of my visit to the beautiful city of Sandpoint accompanied with the music of our daughter, Danielle, as she played on our family's piano. I've been getting better at recording her music as she plays when they come to visit. She does not have any sheet music - she plays from memory! Really quite amazing. I know you will be blessed by listening to the beautiful music she shares with us :)

May the rich blessings of the Lord be with each of you!

  1. Dearest Marilyn,
Can't get over the meanness of some people—letting your husband pick up a kitten and then taking off...!
Good for you to love him and over time the resident cats will accept him.
Oh, that feeling of holding your own published book into your hands—we both know too well.
For avoiding issues like not getting color print versions in other countries and such, we opted for self publishing with Ingram Sparks and with worldwide print on demand. That way shipping costs remain low as well.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. I know Mariette - it was astonishing to us to know there are people who would act like this about their animals! We are in love with our little "Bandit", he is so sweet! I need to look into Ingram Sparks, that would be a good option for me to go with so my international friends could have a color copy book. Thank you so much sweet friend, I appreciate your faithful visits!

  7. It's so inspiring that you've published a cookbook! I have a cookbook project in the back of my mind -- "Kitchens I Have Known and Loved (and Sometimes Cooked In) -- and have many words written towards it, but just haven't had the motivation to move forward and finish it. Your example may provide that inspiration.

I'd love either a paperback or kindle version. They are just beginning to bloom here.
Daffodils are such a wonderful sign of spring.

It is hard to get the motivation to get started, and it is a lot of work, but worth it to have the completed project! I would be glad to help you out any way I could!

  8. Aww! Sweet little Bandit is so cute. I would love to get a kitten, but unfortunately our granddaughter is very allergic to them. It was highly rude of those people though. How sad, but probably a good thing they didn't get rid of him in another less "liveable" way. Unfortunately I have heard of that too often.
That looks like the public beach at Sandpoint. We used to swim there often. Oh, how I miss it there. We're planning to be in Spokane by the end of June for a few weeks. We're both looking forward to it, if God tarries and doesn't take us all home before that. :-)
I would love the paperback version.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. Your sweet kitten knew in it's tiny heart that your husband was the one to hold on to. Too bad those humans turned tail and ran. They would not have made good pet loving owners. I would love to be entered to receive your paper back edition and I congratulate you on putting this together. What a
dedicated person to write down all recipes and pulling this together. Good luck on sales, you deserve good ones. Lynn and Precious (Precious is with Little Girl Ash about a new invader in the home)

  20. Marilyn, I am SO excited for you...your first cookbook published! I can only imagine the joy it must have brought you to actually be able to hold it in your hands as you ate your lunch. I would definitely be interested in a paperback copy of it should my name be chosen!

Thank you for stopping by my blog! I left a message there for you...years ago when I was blogging I used to follow you faithfully. Your posts are always so encouraging and I'd been thinking of you. I could remember your name but not the name of your blog. So, you stopping by my blog was a bit of an answer to prayer.

  21. Marilyn, congratulations on your new cookbook. That is so exciting. If it would happen I would love a paperback version, if only to look at the pictures which I'm sure are beautiful. I am not the most ambitious cook in the world. How wonderful of you to take the little Bandit to your hearts. The way it was handled, you can only imagine what would have become of him otherwise. So cute. Happy spring..xxoJudy

  23. So happy for you and the publishing of your cookbook. I would love to win the Kindle version, as I have no more room on my shelves for cookbooks! I had to pare down alot when I moved and just kept a few of my ones for gluten free or grain free recipes. You always have shared so many wonderful family recipes I would love to see them, and photos too! It sounds like you've put alot of love into it! I hope you are having some spring weather. We are! 70 degrees yesterday and higher today! I've been going on drives on the nice days, to explore the area. Went to the ocean yesterday and a little park on one of the rivers about 5 miles from my place. Oh it's such a joy to see all the green and trees! Hugs... Marilyn

  30. I am not much of a cat person, but that is such a pretty kitty. Love the photos of the water and the mountains in the distance. The mountains are a peaceful environment to live in. There is still snow on our mountain too, and quite a bit actually. This is a sweet picture of you and Riley on your walk at the park. Oh, those squirrels can be a distraction, even with the dogs. And I like that pin wheel photo with the sunset in the distance. It made me smile. : ) Yes, I'd like to enter your giveaway, Marilyn, and a paperback would be fine.

i can only imagine the joy you might have felt while holding your book in hands :)
i don't know whether i am included among people you offered give away or not but if yes i would like to have kindle copy because i doubt paper copy will reach to me (talking from previous experiences)
you are such an inspiration for having your garden and providing healthy meals to your family . it reminds me my dear mother !
healthy foods are rare these days and our loved ones are vulnerable for toxic fast foods sadly. i feel happy when i hear about such sincere effort by moms specially . i try y best thought we can't afford hard work in garden because of extreme weather .so whatever hubby brought i try to make it healthy for family.
how sad that this sweet little cat was left by a man. this is heartbreaking indeed!
bravo for having him in your house and trying to comfort him with your love and care dear friend .
God will return this favor to you as he does for sure .i hope your older pets will accept him soon too.
i am listening beautiful music created by your amazing daughter while typing this .it is soothing for soul :)
    thanks for sharing !
